International spark plugs

If i have a miss fire on any of my old stuff the first thing i check is the resistance on the spark plug wires then the spark plugs before i attack the carb oddly enough my swather proved me wrong on that since it has solid wire core but found they were so old the spark was jumping through the rubber where ever there was a crack.

With the different looking old plugs, I'd check the cap and rotor, maybe wires.. carb would have them all looking the same, usually..

It did start up quicker with the new Champions but still has a definite miss. Seems to improve a little as it warms up but never goes away completely.

Plug wire probably....

@@roosty6 most likely not the carb. A little moisture in the cap can cause all kinds of issues, broken plug wire can be intermittent, or get a little better as it warms up too..

@GosselinFarmsEdGosselin I have many plug wire stories but I bought a 75 Ford years ago for dirt cheap because of a "burnt valve." I owned it for about 15 years. Never did much with it. Noah had messed around and got it running. It idled badly. Ran better on the road but not much better. We cleaned the plugs and swapped a used set of wires on it off an ih grain truck. Purred like a kitten after that. Had a 25 year nap over plug wires.

Is there any chance a couple wires are switched. And don’t forget they use #8 as a starting point

I don't know. Far as I know they should be alright but its worth checking again.

never hurts to put in new spark plugs .. does the cb radio still work?

It was time to replace the old spark plugs anyway but I hoped it would get rid of the miss. Not sure if the CB works as we use the portables all the time lately.

Your first mistake is using champion spark plugs. The dont look at all like originals. Huge mistake.

I've never had a problem with Champion plugs in anything else. I researched pretty thoroughly on IH forums and Champion RJ12YC was one highly recommended.
