Many of the matches on the ITF tour are high quality, tennis is just a brutal sport, which only really pays off for the 100 best in the world. The margin between the 50th ranked in the world and the 500th ranked in the world is way smaller than you think.

Weird how this is a common match winning pattern: Player A wins set 1 decisively. Player B wins set 2 decisively. Player A narrowly wins set 3 in a tie breaker.

@@miaoFoodNow Unfortunately, it's tough to make huge technical changes at this stage. Not enough time. It should've been addressed in his youth. He was taught poor technique. Maybe he needs to run around them more like Rafa or slice it more. But at the very least make it more consistent and a shot that doesn't become an easy next ball for his opponents. In general I'm not a fan of lefty backhands. Currently there are no left handers in the top 10.

@@test_case_7036 I don't know man. But big personalities elevate the game. And draw viewers, Tennis is already losing viewers, rapidly. Just look at the USO Finals. Nobody will match the Big 3 ever. But you need big personalities now more than ever to keep the sport relevant. Otherwise they will keep turning to Saudi/Qatar etc for more money. And I would rather have someone like Shelton succeed and get better, because the American PR machine is real, and him succeeding would elevate the sport. Carlos is a gift, and so is Jannik, but we need more players who can compete and challenge.

His return stats are dire and didn't improve in 2024 - still down at the very bottom of the Top 50. impossible to ever be a regular Top 10 with that bad a return and most never can manage to improve return stats as it depends on speed, reaction time and sight - all things that diminish from 18.
