*STOP IT!!!!!* I'm from Philly.... you can't compare the "Latin Community" in Florida to the Latin Community in N.Y.C. or Philly.
@TheGlobeSpinner14 күн бұрын
@ Dude who’s comparing? You trying to debate a moot point. All of these states have a different experience with Latin communities and I also have family members that are Cubans and Puerto Ricans. Who are you debating with? No one said the Latin communities in NY or Philly were the same as Florida. Stop 🛑 the madness!
@TheGlobeSpinner13 күн бұрын
@ In fact, I would argue our Latin communities are straight from the Islands and their countries. We get them, in most cases first before they migrate to New York or Philly.

Florida has way more Latinos than Pennsylvania, so being from Philadelphia doesn’t compare to New York, California, Texas, and Florida which are all states with larger Latino populations! It’s facts!

Zoe was flat out wrong about the reggae influence on hip hop. Kool Herc, an originator, was born in Jamaica. They started rapping in Jamaica in the 60s and 70s but they called chat pon de track, etc.
@INTERNATIONALZOE13 күн бұрын
No you’re wrong it’s documented that Kool Herk was playing black Americans music and his senior is on camera saying they were influenced by American music. The mastering of dubbing in reggae allowed an artist to “toast”-the predecessor to rapping or emceeing-over instrumental versions of songs. Jamaican DJs usually existed only to hype up songs, but dubbing pioneer King Tubby set a new standard with his emphasis on giving bass and rhythm a prominent spot on his remixes. Tubby commissioned DJ extraordinaire U-Roy to toast over his head-knocking mixes-which is recognized as the true creation of rapping. There is strong speculation that hip-hop’s forefathers-Barbados-born Grandmaster Flash, Jamaica’s Kool Herc, and Afrika Bambaataa-gained their inspiration directly by King Tubby and U-Roy.

@INTERNATIONALZOE Rap Music was made by Black men. The Northeast wasn't the only place that made platinum hits. Yo MTV Raps , BET RAP City put Rap Music on mostly and definitely helped sell Rap music with videos. After it's all said and done Rap Music is not Hip Hop. NWA a multi-platinum selling group did not use Hip Hop. Too Short did not use the words Hip Hop. Those words didn't exist in the 80's when Commercial Rap Music was being Born. I lived it Zoe.
