In Australia we have a split of US and UK english, so for example, we will call Chips and Fries interchangeably or "the crisps are in the chips isle", it's basically personal preference. One thing I've never knew though is that the 'Mc' in McDonalds was pronounced without the 'a', we always used the 'a" and called them 'Maccas', even the ad's here uses that slang and pronunciation.

The way that we pronounce Mc in the states can be misheard as a slurr towards Irish people. Mick is like a racial slurr. This could be another reason why they pronounce it like Mac

Honeslty, for me though I've always thought that was just how you pronounced Mc(Mac), I've never once pronounced it as (Mick) even though I've heard other people call it Mickey D's.

Just a dialect thing, I think. Besides, "McDonald" is an alternate spelling of the name "MacDonald". Pronouncing it with an A sound makes sense on its own.

we didn't have Halloween where i grew up, we had holiday week before Easter, we dress up as witches and other monsters burn an effigy of a witch, chant for winter to end, and dance around the burning effigy, eat soup and pancakes. then leave do something similar to trick or treating but instead of trick or treating we think of a rhymes, and sing them to the people for the treats.

How come when trying to emulate his pronunciation of Mc Donalds you kept trying to repronounce the A when it was the O that he pronounced different? The only difference between how he pronounced it was he said Doe instead of Dah, but you guys were all nyald nuyold. You two ok?
