How I see this: Top 5-8 drivers in HL closer to same level compared to Top 5-8 on the WoO side. Regardless, being in the dash was almost always required to win the race. I'm just happy there is more sprint car racing to go around!
@Hazmatt344617 күн бұрын
Definitely more parody with High Limit. The Outlaws have 5 heavy hitters and the rest are not up to par.

WOO had a stretch from Williams Grove to Charlotte where there not a pass for the lead. I do like the HL spin for the dash, leads to more equity. WOO can stink up the show when fast qualifier wins his heat and draws 1 or 2 in dash draw.

From my findings it was both nights at Route 66 (right after WG), Riverside and Charlotte. All in a row, no lead changes

I really enjoy these statistics. It's pretty obvious that HL is a more competitive series. Thank you Chase!. Keep up the good work
@ezduzit400917 күн бұрын
These stats seem to support what I've thought for a long time. Inverts improve the show and the cream always rises to the top. Inverts are tough on some drivers but great for fans and guys who had an issue in qualifying. Allowing good drivers a chance to save their night is a good thing. In a growing sport doing as much as you can to make the racing exciting and to create new fans is vital. To see purses rise further we need more people in the stands. I also think the Outlaw field was more top heavy and Highlimit was much more balanced top to bottom.

People will never be happy until you put slow cars up front and fastest cars in the back. Willamette speedway does this and it’s unsafe for drivers and tears up more shit than necessary. If one guy leads a whole race but guys come from the b main and starts 21-24 and finishes in the top 10 guess what? That track obviously had multiple lanes and produced some passing and great racing throughout the field. I saw a lot of 3 and 4 wide racing at a ton of races this year. Great video Chase

That's how it should be. In my humble opinion.

This is totally a function of the racing format. The invert promotes racing

Most interesting show yet, Chase. Great diagnostic stats. In summary, track position is EVERYTHING if you're an Outlaw. You must: finish 1 or 2 in your heat, make the dash and finish 1 or 2 in order to have a realistic chance in the feature. The same for High Limit, only not quite as bad as the Outlaws. Solution: invert the feature start 8 or even 10 positions. Then let's see who the real best drivers and crews are.

Seen a local winged 360 show at Petaluma Speedway of all places on May 21, 2011 (Rapture Night) that had 8 lead changes in the final 4 laps and was decided by 0.008 seconds at the start/finish line. Best sprint car race I've seen on dirt in almost 30+years. You never when or where a great race will break out

I watched both series online. To me, (without stats) HL shows seemed more competitive than WOO. WOO seems more like club racing with format ensuring that series cars start in front. I actually find the California 410s and IRA most interesting because they’re so competitive.
@catherinesullivan64116 күн бұрын
Agree on the IRA AND ASCS too. In Cali and wish the NorCal counts were a bit higher!
@melabshier581216 күн бұрын
For me the difference is with the WOO, they go to virtually the same tracks every season, so the crew chiefs have their notes on those tracks. For HL, there were less notes for the crew chiefs due to more new tracks to them.
@4thturnslider17 күн бұрын
The High Limit series puts on a better show. Went to both series this year in California. The Local drivers are tough in California and Pennsylvania. The WOO series just seems antiquated. Would love to see clash of both series end of year best on best. The inverted mains make for a great show. If Larson raced full time in either series you'd see the numbers skewed even more.

Larson skewed the average start for the Outlaws with his 2 wins at I-55. Starting 21 and 12 definitely moved that 2.9 from what would likely have been closer to 2.4.

One series had a David gravel. He was dominant. Brad sweet was not as dominant as we’ve seen in past years with the outlaws. I would say that’s your difference right there. Also high limit has more guys who could win on any given night.

One factor that can bias the analysis is the track length; traffic is less of an issue on a longer track while on a short track traffic can be intense. I also suspect longer tracks are more horse power dependent and that may also produce fewer lead changes. #JustAnotherInternetGuyWith2Cents

Another big win for High Limit was the Dice Roll. Wow, the fact that 9 or 10 fans took home several thousand dollars is a great reward for buying an online ticket to a HL event. If HL could come up with sone other incentives, or fan-involvement type of contests to add to their program, I believe they could put more people in the seats, honestly.
@chriscrook130716 күн бұрын
biggest reason outlaw shows suck is because you hand the fastest drivers everything. invert the top six in every heat race and then let them prove they are the best drivers. i watched it done that way for 20 plus years before outlaws started giving hand outs. that or let the top eight draw for a starting stop in their heat race. the cream always rises if they truely are the cream of the crop. they just have to learn you can not win the race on lap one but you sure can lose it on lap one.
@mattreaser217116 күн бұрын
Track prep is the primary reason being overlooked. Poor year for the Outlaws there. Majority of the season was quickest car starting front row, immediately jumping out to a comfortable lead and going on to a relatively routine win on a single groove track in a feature that despite no passing would take 2-3x as long to finish as it should. That's how I'd sum up 2024 for the WoO.

First, the depth of competition capable of winning races was by far hands down deeper on the HL series. Not one stat was surprising to me as I seen it with my own eyes. We watch both series as loyal fans, and this not a knock on WOO as the quality of their show is still entertaining, but in the philosophical words of the genius wrestler Scott Steiner, the numbers don’t lie!

HL had a deep field not necessarily the better. Format plays a role but I think the redraw gimmick helps HL here. Instead of 1-6/8 out of hat the roulette well with multiple options to land on helps keep 1-6/8 jumbled up a bit. Helped different competitors not necessarily HL guys be in the mix up front in the dash. Sye lynch comes to mind when he started on the pole for the feature at wheatland.

You'd almost expect HL having the invert on heats to be more impactful than what it was. Top guys are always going to run up front weather they start there or not. HL and WoO all have some absolute killer racing. It's kind of annoying how people hate the WoO just to hate em. Can't we all just love sprint car racing?!?!?!
@AXIDNT6616 күн бұрын
Nah, it's 2024, we always have to pick a side for everything and learn to hate anyone who doesn't agree. In a few years we will have fistfights breaking out in McDonald's between one guy who likes ketchup and one guy who likes mustard.
@wg576817 күн бұрын
Great work Chase. HL definitely has a better format as fans are concerned. The wheel spin to determine starting position is great. No format will be perfect and someone will always complain! The internet idiots out there saying that the races are always won from the front row,are just that,idiots. Your stats prove this wrong. Those guys probably only go to two or three races all year. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
@mfw304417 күн бұрын
HL with a better format for dash spots and dash line up. Also the extra incentive for added money with the dice roll could of helped as well. I don't think there really is any perfect formula to line an A main. Be it based on a dash a draw or qualifying, you're more often than not gonna have the fast guys up front. The only realthing you can hope for is a multi lane track for someone not starting first few rows to have a shot at hitting a set up and passing cars to win. One reason I like the 100 lap Late Model races, guys have a chance at coming from deep to win.

It would be interesting to see these same stats, but with the dash results. The dash is essentially the first few laps of the feature for the redraw cars. How often is there a lead change in the dash and the dash winner ends up leading every lap of the feature? Personally, I find the dash to be a waste of time. If you can make up spots in the dash, you can make them up in the feature.

IMO I like the Outlaw format. I like rewarding the best cars. Never been a fan of inverts. You set fast time yet get punished by starting 4th or 6th in the heat. Guy who runs 9th or 10th quick gets clean air in the heat? Why are you rewarding that car? I can understand the excitement but I also think it gets a little confusing with who's making the dash with HL. I know the rules I'm saying by the end of the heat race do I always remember who started 4th? Maybe something Flo racing can work on highlighting who's in dash spots during the heat.
@blueliner_7inpa93311 күн бұрын
In my opinion, you need to please the fans to put on a good show. Of course the fastest qualifying cars don't want to have to pass anyone. Those drivers think they have the fastest car and should start up front and win every race entered. But that makes boring racing and the fans are not normally entertained or pleased when no passes are made. Besides that kind of racing was Steve Kinser and Sammy Swindell kind of racing. Today fans want to see passing and still want the most deserving driver in the fastest car win. So I say invert some cars, or draw starting position, I don't care. Just have them race for the win and NOT follow the leader.
@daveabernathy313010 күн бұрын
First inverts don't create passing, it slightly helps. Passing is created mostly my track prep. 2 start messing with rules packages or formats create questions of who should of or could of won. You are messing with the credibility of the race. Fans don't like that either. See Nascar playoffs questions was 22 the best car this year or just lucky on the last race. See how NFL messing with flags at the end of games to create drama and excitement for fans. Now those fans they are trying to entertain are pissed about them fixing games. Inverts create sandbagging time trials and fans start getting pissed about that. I'll stick to my opinion. You are entitled to having yours.

You are not a homer on this ch. You cover everyone. You do a great job calling the HL Series ... IMO HL is better because: Better Drivers, Exciting Races, GREAT Format, I could go on but you get the picture... In this day and age having quick time start from the pole is dead for dirt racing. Having QT start 3 even 4 rows back is freakin' awesome ... It forces the cream of the crop (Larson/Sweet/Rico/et al) to RACE/drive to win. It makes them earn it, it fires up the crowd to see Sunshine who was quick time lose his heat and then have to work to get it back. You have fans standing and shouting in the stand for their drivers when they are battling (Day v Larson v Sweet v McFadden) ... If I spend $40/50 bucks for a ticket to watch the best drivers race, why in the hell would I pay that to watch QT start from the pole and check out for 30 laps.... Which is why I refuse to watch Super Late Models ... IF they (SLM) switched to an inverted start they would be a great combo race with the 410's (High Limit Style) ... Keep up the good work

@@TheRaudmanRundown I complained about it after the first night of Eastbay. I couldn't believe the regular teams agreed to it. One of the great things about dirt tracks is change from night to night, and a good reason for everyone to qualify the next night. Also, it screwed my favorite driver, JP, when running 2nd a lap car that probably shouldn't have been let back on track wrecked him. Also, it put him to start mid pack the next night. Not sure on the ruling there when on the start a driver does a 360 to avoid contact keeps his spot and my guy goes to the back of the pack for coming to a stop to avoid contact with the 360. I know seen guys keep there spot stoping to avoid contact.

You dont have to be a hater to spill facts and you cant change the facts to change the narrative they just are what they are FACTS and the evidence has and is in that Woo is most likely to be a parade and the only way to change that imo is rules. Everybody is running the same stuff with the same rule and it shows the talent level in woo is down compared to past years and what i mean without degrading is that there is no real gap in the talent level of a Gravel vs Macedo or Scelzi vs Haud its basically very equal if it was not then you would not see all the front row winning and you would see a constant breakthrough of a better then the rest driver and were simply not seeing that were watching the top 6 outlaw drivers win off the front row and you can see no real difference. Picture this.... if the 41 car in woo won the race but when he got out in victory lane and it was Haudenschild? Do u think you could know it was not macedo in the car and it was Haudenschild all along??? If your telling the truth the answer is hell no you couldn't and wouldn't know the difference because there is none. We need a open tire rule at the very least to see a different combination to see if it could shake things up but Woo likes the money they get from forcing Hoosier down the drivers throats and only Woo benefits from this not us. Without some sorta of mixture in rules then how are we going to change the current result and findings that Woo shows are boring more the half the time.
