Woah! I live in SA myself. I imagine you would have been flying pretty low for real estate photography. Really surprising that wedge tails would attack drones at a low altitude and presumably close to the operator.

Great footage, fantastic view of the Wedge tails. How do you find the Radian?
@PhilipChristian10 жыл бұрын
Hi schumifan, the radian is a very graceful airframe, with it being next to none with its thermal abilities. It really is the best soaring airframe to get especially regarding value for money and ease of setup. Its a joy to fly every time.

Can't help thinking the eagles have twigged that it is not a bird. I reckon they are partly protecting their territory and partly having fun. The rc equipment would be emitting some high frequency sounds which they can pick up. Gives 'em exercise!

AS if Eagles don't have enough problems without motorized aircraft engaging them in warfare. The eagle could be mortally wounded by these impacts especially by the propeller. Fly somewhere else. Intentionally killing an Eagle is illegal in the USA.

as your video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGLVeJuPp5V6r6s we can see the size of your small glider- the ONLY reason they did NOT attack it was curiosity ONLY- and if they wanted to could easily outfly much faster than your TOY . Anyway U have done an excellent video - and maybe you are giving David Attenborourh and the BBC team some good ideas .

I do not understand why drones are so expensive? I know I could build a drone that was completely autonomous that could carry between 50 and 100 pounds that fly for more than 2 hours at 100 MPH or more, and after starting to mass produce them be able to sell them for $500 or less a piece. You don't think so? Much of what I am going to show you is already available to do so. (These prices are retail) Shrink mold the wings and fuselage using Lexan. $80.00 Use bamboo, and PVC for stringers, and struts. $20.00 Use 12 Volt gear motors for control of rudder and allerons. $20.00 Use EMT (Conduit) for control rods from motors to control surfaces. $5.00 Electric fuel pump $20.00 Metal bucket or round pot for engine mount $20.00 2.5 Gallon Gas can - Plastic $10.00 Small amount of miscellaneous parts $50.00 Android Smart Phone $10.00 plus cheap service plan. 12 Volt motorcycle battery, or cheap lawn mower battery $30.00 Gas 6.5 HP engine Less than $200.00 Propeller Less than $100.00 How this would work is that the cell phone would control the plane. It would need to be programmed to adjust for wind speed using the roll and yaw of the drone etc... It would also need to read aircraft transponders to avoid other aircraft. You would just need to input the destination longitude and latitude, and any others you would want it to fly over. You would also need to input a destination IP address of the destination weather station you are flying it to. You would need a small ground weather station for the cell to read to adjust the drone for landing conditions. The drone would have a total weight of under 125 pounds, including fuel. Wingspan would be 5 feet, and a length of 6 feet. One man with the correct machinery, tools and training could build no less than 8 per day, if not more. Estimated R&D to production would be less than $50,000. Still don't believe me? This plane cost less than $3,000 to build - kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqGnmJiEmLaKnpI

Let it be known that this is the largest raptor on the planet with a wingspan of up to 2.5 metres, AND is the only bird of prey which sees not only in Ultraviolet but also in Infrared. The American Bald eagle- though this fact will offend Americans- simply does not compare either in size or ability to hunt prey. Fact. Suck it up. Accept it. Move on.
@gogogeedus6 ай бұрын
And wedge tails are extremely fast, not only in a dive but in level flight, if the decide to move out the will streak across the sky in no time, I don't know if anybody has studied this but they can cover great distances in a short time and I'm sure they must be up there with the fastest birds.

So u know your flying within one mile of the nest b4 u even launch.... wow not what I would recommend to ANYONE EVER AND ARE u seriously attempting to cut these animals you think this is funny? As a rescuer dealing with BOP that have the thinnest bones when then break one they are as good as dead if not taken to a rehab... smh hope that bowl of jello was worth it 👌... And don't be proud be ashamed in the event of a raptor attacking your wing or quad your IN THEIR HOUSE and within one mile or closer of a nest. With almost all Birds of prey... I hate to be a part of a community that has people who find it funny to risk wildlife possibly left to die a slow death in misery or at best a rehab that MIGHT be able to save them.. SUX u may have well had good intentions but I don't know and hate seeing vids like this
@anzaeria2 жыл бұрын
Yea he did mention wedge tailed eagles at the start of the video before he launched the plane. So he that there was going to be conflict. If I knew that these birds were in the vicinity, I wouldn't fly my rc aircraft anywhere near them.
