Fan Bing Bing is breathtakingly beautiful. She can act and as the envoy states in this she might be of royal blood but god blessed her with everything else. I had no idea such a great film as this was even on KZbin so thank you. I had just finished watching Empress of China which was also phenomenal. The costumes the plot is exemplary. So much betrayal by everyone. A harem was not a good place to be it most certainly wasn't for the poor girls and women sent there. As beautiful as she was she would still be passed over for someone new. Consort Wu saw the emperors interest spiked in her so set out to make her sons wife.

Wesley Snipes was jailed for more than 2 years, for a tax amount of USD11million. Fan Bingbing was caught and fined USD121million for the amount of taxes evaded (USD37million) but no jail time. She is fortunate. Before 2011, in communist China, such action is punishable by death. At least, she is still allowed to use her fame and beauty as an internet influencer to earn a living.

I loved this movie and have seen this and other versions many times..but this is my favorite version... I wish I'd known the year the Bishop visited His Royal Highness Playboy... loved the costume and although I got lost a few times but it's because I'm multitasking.... The Emperor's last wedding scene was quite exquisite with costumes and bright colors. I can only imagine the richness of China at the time and if only they knew that we existed on the other side of the globe with our many nooks and crannies... Now what was Consort Mei's role in all these.. At first I thought she was finally marrying the Emperor in his last wedding but then realized that it was Yujuan (wife of Prince Mao) marrying the Emperor and somehow now Consort Mei was standing next to Prince Mao). Did that make any sense at all??? Not to me, but then I watch because of the beautiful costumes....

Zhang Jing Yi & the names mentioned can't be on same par as Fan Bing Bing. Zhang Jing Yi has to use many filters, "borrowed camera angles", Photoshop etc. If it wasn't rich producers backing her, she wouldn't have any lead roles. Dilraba can compare. Another beauty that is similar to Fan Bing Bing almost, with similar features and body, is Viann Zhang. She acted in the drama Empress of China with Fan Bing Bing.

I don't understand why she would fall for him when he used tricks to get her to become his wife.

While the cinematography was beautiful, I did not like the movie. Perhaps it was too short to go into characters motives. Based on what was shown, I didn't see true love between the Emperor and Yang Guifei. I felt sorry for Prince Mao.
