Maybe covers are supposed to be different, like another version of the actual piece but I think it's awesome how you manage to reproduce the same sounds of the original song (and even the Radiohead arrangements haha). It's crazy. I love what yo do, keep it up.

Really like all of your Interpol covers, but I was very excited to see you covered this one. My band has been working on this one lately and it’s I think it’s an underrated gem. I got to see them play this live during the OLTA tour and it was fantastic. If I could nerd-out for a moment, I saw in the description that’s you’re playing a deluxe reverb amp now - I’ve been looking at a few and I wonder if it’s easier to dial in that Interpol tone than the hot rod. Anyway cheers and please continue the fantastic work.

Thanks! Yeah I love this song, it was actually one of the first I heard and latched on to when I was getting into them. So yeah I have the “68 Custom” Deluxe Reverb and I have a hot rod from the early 00s. The Deluxe has more of that classic, “bright and bassy”/‘mid scooped fender blackface sound than the hot rod which is a bit less presence and more mushy in the low midrange. Hot rod is still a cool amp and great pedal platform, but I think the deluxe reverb gets closer to that retro pointiness of sound that Daniel gets.

This song really cut through to me at a point when I was doing a decent amount of coke as I was starting to realise that's not how I wanted to live my life. I saw myself in this song as the guy who's a mess after a coke bender and having that moment of clarity where you see how that lifestyle is unsustainable. Listening to this song brings me back to that point which is uncomfortable but reminds me why I don't do that shit anymore.

Stumbled upon this channel just as I became obsessed with this song and then you uploaded this. Outstanding work. Where did you pick up the skill to play all these instruments? Asking as an inspired drummer who plans on possibly getting both guitar and piano lessons soon.

Slashycent thank you! ☺️ I actually wanted to be a drummer first and it’s still my favorite to play and daydream of rhythms for! But I ended up starting and was most formally trained on guitar, I took lessons with a few instructors and then self taught the rest by learning songs I liked. Bass and drums I’ve had a few friends who play each who’ve helped me along the way and I took it from there, again trying to learn parts I liked which taught me various techniques. Piano was 95% learning Radiohead songs haha, I’m still developing a muscle memory there... But with all my rambling, everyone learns differently, so soak up whatever you can from the lessons and teachers, and then apply it to the music you love and you will be inspired to practice and get better! There is always something new to learn. Good luck on the journey!

@@JoeEdelmann3 Thank you for the detailed answer :D So you basically only had guitar lessons and picked up the rest from friends and by playing things you enjoyed? Again that's pretty inspiring. Singing's another thing. In your "Yes I'm Changing" cover you hit quite the notes. We're you ever instructed in that regard? Due to Uni I might just alternate between guitar and piano lessons each week, meaning one lesson every two weeks for each instrument. Not sure if that's efficient but I just wanna learn both so bad haha. I'd have to be proactive and do a lot on my own I guess. Great to hear that one can achieve the skill to make awesome videos like this one the way you did though. Thanks again for the answer. Appreciate it ^^
