Yessir. I've heard His Voice loud in my mind when it's very important and needs to happen now. I've heard more of The Still Small Voice more often But, He also speaks to my heart. It's more suttle. When its the suttle version I only know for sure that I heard from him after what I heard comes to pass. But I've learned to know that Voice more. He's teaching me. It's like He's making it harder or rather i have to listen harder to hear Him. It's not always the same. He's not a magic 8 ball nor is He my personal secretary where I can just ask Him anything at any time. Lol I've learned to only ask Him when it's important. I still need to be patient and WAIT and trust Him in His Perfect Timing

For myself, the way I tend to hear best is tuning in to the "still, small voice." What do I mean about "tuning in?" Exactly that! Reception can be a big problem in a very noisy world. But when I get very still, and make myself very, very small, that's when I am positioned to hear God's still, small voice. Just like Elijah heard, its best heard from the top of a mountain. Whether it's a "mountain top experience" or it's a mountain of adversity that I had to climb by faith because it wouldn't budge when I commanded it to be removed and cast into the sea. I have experienced such mountains, but not to despair, mountain climbing is good exercise both physically as well as spiritually. The view from the top of just such a mountain is incredible! Makes one want to rise up on wings like eagles, so to speak. However, I would encourage one to take a moment to breathe in the stillness, get as small as possible and listen to the still, small voice of The Lord. Sorry, the writer in me couldn't resist. I dont hold copyright on these words either. They're yours now if you want them, that's what I write for.

As a teen I would have a dream that played on repeat. I very clearly remember pulling a cart with 7 children in it. I was pulling it through the water, and fire had broke out around me. I felt fear, and anguish in the dream. I was wearing a long dress that was old and shabby, it’s sleeves came up to my wrists. There was an apron and my hair was muddy and tied back by a cloth. As I fled (I knew I was fleeing,) the children in the cart cried for their mothers. I consoled them as best I could. Later in life I found myself in a position of having to take care of my 7 nieces and nephews. Their parents (my sisters,) had become addicts, and I was the only one in my family who stepped up. I was harassed and belittled and abused for this. Three children now live with their fathers sister, one lives with their father, one lives with me, and the other two I could do nothing for. I didn’t understand this dream until today, but it never left my mind as it was so vivid and heartbreaking to me.

I also think his dreams produced pride in himself as well because again if you are serious about your walk with God you are going to keep that kind of thing to yourself especially around people who already are jealous of you and hate you I think he told that dream because he was a little prideful

I think Joseph's brothers we're going to do to him Whatever they were going to do to him regardless..... I think the problem was that he opened his mouth and told the dream when he probably should not have he should have kept it to himself but I think that God gave him that dream because God knew what he was about to endure and that was going to hold him through some very unjust times in his life

Reading Acts 10 is amazing when you understand the Jewishness of the Word of God and how to understand the meaning of Peter’s’ vision in its Jewish context. Remember Kefa was a Jew so obviously he knew what is unclean or common. Rabbinic Judaism had enforced a doctrine to not associate with gentiles. God cares about the gentiles and they’re not unclean. God doesn’t play favorites. We know that the Torah says. “For this community there will be the same law for you as for the foreigner living with you; this is a permanent regulation through all your generations; the foreigner is to be treated the same way before Adonai as yourselves. The same Torah and standard of judgment will apply to both you and the foreigner living with you.’” (vi)” ‭‭B'midbar (Num)‬ ‭15‬:‭15‬-‭16‬ ‭CJB‬

I thought "What God has cleansed" represented the people whom God has cleansed. I.E. Gentiles were considered filthy unckean animals and the great sheet from heaven represented the great commission to the Gentiles. In context, it's clear in the beginning of Acts that the disciples were only preaching the gospel to other Jews. I doubt it's only about hanging around with people who eat the wrong food. Not arguing but food alone was not what separated Cornelius from Peter... Or Peter's prejudice against Gentiles.

By the time of Acts, the Apostles already know they need to go to all nations. Jesus told them this when He ascended. The primary (but not only) thing still keeping Peter from this is his false beliefs about not defiling himself by eating with gentiles. Diet was a large aspect of what caused Jewish culture to consider Gentiles as unclean. To eat (or not eat) with someone was a big deal in the ancient world and defined relationships. This is why Jesus was often accused of “eating with sinners.” Peter inherited this false teaching through His Jewish tradition. God told Peter food does not defile the person and you can be around them, they won’t defile you. Even today, ultra Orthodox Jews hold that you should not dine with non-Jewish people, because it can lead to deeper relationships. God showed Peter this is not a problem, but the goal. The gospel makes all people clean. But the gospel does not make unclean food clean.

@@RiseOnFire The book of Acts showed that the apostles preached only to other Jews and converts/proslytes, despite what Jesus had commanded them. And, even in the first chapters, the disciples were still in their mindset about restoring the kingdom of Israel. In the beginning of the book of Acts, although they knew Jesus' command to preach to all the world, they were in the temple daily. Luke makes a point of saying that after the pentecost the disciples were all still abiding in Jerusalem. No one taught in Samaria or went to Gentiles. Acts 5:42 And daily in the temple and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ. Acts 8:14. When the disciples heard that Philip was preaching to the Samaritans, they went down there to look. Why? Because John and Peter were important and they were the ones to check things out. Most importantly, it seems it was the first time that anyone was preaching to the Samaritans. As yet, no one was preaching to the Gentiles. Acts 8: 25 When they travelled to Samaria it seems as if Peter and John didn't preach to the Samaritans but when they returned to Jerusalem, Luke makes a point of saying they preached the gospel to the Samaritans. When they went to visit Samaria, were they simply ignoring the Samaritan towns? Yes! But after that, Peter and John preached to the Samaritan towns on their return. But even after that, the apostles still weren't preaching to Gentiles. They preached to the Samaritans now, in addition to Jews and converts. Acts 11:18 The disciples who rebuked Peter for speaking to the Gentiles said, " 18When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, “Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life.” They were amazed that God had granted GENTILES repentance that leads to life. The Gentiles too can be cleansed. In any translation of this verse, the amazement the disciples felt when they learned that repentance should be preached to the Gentiles is very evident. The church had scattered because of the persecution in Israel but EVEN THEN, although they went all over, they were only preaching the word to JEWS. Acts 11:19 Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only. It wasn't until Peter's vision and Paul's ministry that the apostles began opening their eyes to the truth. I'm not being picky but it's very plain in ACTS that things were exactly opposite to what you believe. Human nature and human prejudices are hard to get rid of. The Pharisees believers were often against Paul because they valued the law still. Even after what Jesus said about sin. (I don't think there were any Sadducee believers at this point.) But culture is pretty ingrained. Even after God had told this vision to Peter, Paul relates in Galatians 2 that Peter lost all his "boldness" and stopped eating with the Gentiles because certain came from James. Even James had issues with external stuff like food and with hanging around uncircumcized Gentiles. Even though Peter had had the vision and Jesus had said that it is not what comes into the man that makes a man impure but what comes out of a man, the disciples took a long time to get rid of their cultural ingrained and legalistic prejudices. In fact, many of Paul's enemies were not just unbelieving Jews but believing Jews who had issues with Gentiles. Not arguing but I do ask that you be like the Bereans and check the Scriptures to see if you're seeing things clearly.

@@RiseOnFire This is Peter's interpretation of his dream and the events. He said to them: “You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with or visit a Gentile. But God has shown me that I should not call anyone impure or unclean. Food eating is just a part of the issue. The main issue is that the Gentiles will be cleansed and given an opportunity to hear the gospel and the wild beasts in the dream are identified with the Gentiles, not with unclean food but with unclean people.

Read again what I said. I didn’t say they were going to gentiles from the beginning of Acts. I said they were given the great commission by the beginning of Acts, but certain (false) beliefs kept them from fulfilling it.
