Jade’s point - “the bigger problem is not religion, the biggest problem is that there’s no compromise” what a takeaway 🙌🏼🔥

The part where Dew says the parents would do a q&a machiam like background check, its a chinese thing. The parents usually will ask these kind of qns to their kid’s partner when the kid brings someone back. I tink it comes from wanting to know more about the kid’s partner (but i do agree that some parents ask those qns from a judgy perspective)
@Chloe-dl3lh3 жыл бұрын
Actually Chinese parents do it all the time even if it’s a Chinese partner. Maybe it’s their kaypoh-ness sometimes

I agree with dew. Everyone journey toward spiritual awakening should given a choice . They got to choose what they want . Religion is human term belief and choices .. I’m spiritual it’s my personal choice and experience and journey .

It's not a choice children can make for themselves meaningfully though.

Jade is right. I'm a Christian. A very religious one. But contradictory enough, I dated people out of my religion before. It was short lived but it ended mainly because of religion. I can't and would never leave my religion because of a relationship. We(and I believe every abrahamic religion) were taught to put religion ahead of everything else. To put to death every single interest you might have for other people with other religion. Mainly due to the fact that God comes first. I disagree with dew tho. Kids are kids and they can't make a well-informed choice. I feel having partner of a similar religion will alleviate this issue of religion

I agree with you as a muslim. I am quite staunch with my religion so dating or even marrying someone of a different faith will cause alot of friction. I also believe that instead of the kids going to 1 of the religions, they would be agnostic or atheist instead

I do believe to have the same religion beliefs is important. The kids won't be confused also. I am not a staunch Muslim but still religion is very important to me so my husband converted before we get married and I don't forced him to do it either. He have to be willing and we are together for 22 years already. My kids though always have ppl questioning them on what race are they cause of their name

I had an interracial relationship and romantic interests outside of my Chinese ethnicity. The one thing that constantly bothers me is the religion aspect of my romantic partner because I'm not religious and more spiritual in nature. I feel this cultural pressure to convert in event I choose to marry someone of another religion, especially if their family is traditional and staunch. It's tough, even though I like that person, have great chemistry and share the same life goals. But it will depend though, if my future self changes her mind about that person. I personally don't believe you should sacrifice your beliefs for someone else because it makes you, you, of course the choice is all yours, you do you.

I can relate to Keisha about Chinese food. I'm very westernised I guess so I would die if my future bf is from a very traditional family. Munah's upbringing is cool though her family is so open about dating out of race/religion!

First time tuning in. Really interesting to hear the backgrounds of everyone and the overall tone of tolerance. As a Jewish man and SG PR, it reinforces to me why SG is so special.

I think even if it’s not interracial, for sure there will be differences and things to work out. Essentially both persons were raised a certain way and certain background.
