Might be a hot take, but I think literally all they had to do to make persephone less frustrating in general both with her old kit and her new kit was add counterplay to her plants beyond "walk out of their area". For me the frustration stems from the lack of counterplay. Like imagine if amc's hives couldn't be destroyed so they were just perma-stats and a mini ward. Persephone plants should be able to be destroyed by enemies by walking over them imo, similar to how you can destroy tiamat's minion portals, but it would be instant as soon as you step on the seed/plant, or just make them take 1 or 2 autos to destroy.

New pers, maybe that's a good idea, but in all honesty she's a burst mage now. So, her plants shouldn't be sticking around that long. I don't like that idea for old pers, though. The time it took for the plants to mature & how many you could plant at once would make being able to destroy her plants a nightmare. The counterplay to old Pers was understanding her yourself. She took SOOO much forethought & planning to be viable. So, if you understood how her kit worked, you'd see the person cooking up their scheme.

As far as Persephone goes, I really feel like they could have just toned the passive down. Her passive really isn't all that different from Chronos, or Alternate timeline. Maybe reduce her damage dealt, or reduce the amount of time the passive is active. I've adjusted to the new Persephone, but compared to the Old Pers, it feels bad man.... it feels real bad. #REVERTPERS

An idea I had was that the damage reduction would scale based on how many times you die. First death is 70% reduced damage dealt, 2nd is 80%, 3rd is 90% and 4th is 100% (so she basically as her new passive). Not only will this be reward players that go position better and just get dove once or twice, it's also flavorful because there are 4 seasons and 4 modes. 2 might be more lore-accurate but I still think this would be it balanced.

I happen to enjoy persephones ult because it is different from every other ult In the game. They did change it, it used to not allow you to move out at all… now it just functions like Odin ult basically but worse. Why worse? Odin has wall segments you need to auto 5 times. #revertPersephone . She doesn’t need to be like every other mage. She was different & unique. Smite devs need to start realizing some gods are specifically PLAYED for those reasons. She used to be my main and i have not touched her ever since. I liked strategizing about how to use my abilities, now every time i think of playing her all i can think of is a standard line and aoe circle damage. At that point, why wouldn’t i play a much better god like scylla?

One thing to add: the Nox you described was Nox 2.0 (current being 3.0). Nox 1.0 was potentially even WORSE than release Ravana or Cabrakan. 2.0 was basically just a giga-buffed 1.0. Her 1.0 passive was basically a mage version of Chaac passive, where she could free cast an ability when 4 allies/enemies casted near her (2.0 gave her mitigations for every ability she used and were extinguished when enemy gods damage her similar to now but with power) Her 1.0 shield was the single worst ability in the game; it was a 1 second long shield that cleansed roots/slows (not immune to them while active, just cleansed them, and the 2 second duration and root/slow/knock up immunities were added in 2.0). 1.0 shield also didn't give basic attack reduction and only mitigated a SINGLE instance of ability damage (making it near useless for DoT or channeled damage abilities) rather than full mits for the duration. 1.0 Raven was similar to 2.0, but the silence was hilariously short (1 second) and the damage was genuinely embarrassing for it's cooldown (120 base damage with 70% scaling on a 15 second long cooldown). It also applied a debuff that interacted with her og Siphon Darkness specifically. 1.0 Nox's ago Siphon Darkness was her best ability, not that it says much; it was a low damage low cooldown ability similar to He Bo Water Cannon, but the base damage values were less than half of He Bo's (120 base with 50% scaling on a 3 second long cooldown). If enemies suffered from the darkness debuff from her Raven (which only lasted 5 seconds btw), she would cleanse the debuff in exchange for 2x more damage (which even at 240 base damage and 100% scaling was still less than what characters like He Bo, Scylla, and Anubis could do with one ability). And her 1.0 Ultimate was the worst Ultimate in game, bar none (even worse than release Janus lacking CC immunity or the ability to aim while channeling). Her Ultimate, at max rank, legitimately did 190 base with only 75% scaling, with the damage reapplied whenever the enemy casted an ability for up to 5 seconds. The catch? Like Aphro kiss, she has to keep herself tethered to the enemy. The tether was 55 units long, and broke as soon as they got further than that. That's right, they gave the squishy mage an Ultimate that does almost no damage, only affects one target, was slower than a basic attack, AND requires them to be in the front line to use even slightly effectively. (The 70 unit range, faster projectile speed, ability to hit up to 3 targets, being an actual debuff rather than a tether, and the extra damage instance with stun were all added in Nox 2.0). Even the cooldown resets (5 seconds per ability cast by the linked target) didn't even matter because she either died from her poor positioning, or the enemy just walked away knowing that she had no way to really lock you down (or even damage you for that matter). Nox 1.0 was so bad that they legitimately reworked her into Nox 2.0 less than 2 months after her release. If you look up her old God reveal, it's actually her 1.0 kit. Just about everything else about 1.0 Nox has been scoured from the internet; like one or two videos from Drybear, Force Gaming and maybe DM are all that's left. Not even the Smite Wiki remembers her, just her old free cast passive is all you'll find under the previous abilities section. You have to read her full change log to actually see how bad her original abilities were.

I’m a nox main. I love using her abilities. I go full pen and if you hit that combo you just watch half the enemies health disappear. End game I can get my ult to take about 60% health on an enemy adc or mage. Pretty much unshielded targets. Yea it’s just 2… 1… combos all game but that silence on enemies can really mess them up in a group fight

Hot take but the only things that should be reworked about New Nox are her passive and her 2. Her current 1 is one of my favorite cc abilities in the game. There's just something so oddly satisfying about having your target being rooted while you're free to move around. Also with no movement penalties? It's just oddly fun as a support secondary. Potentially reducing the damage and size of her 2, while making it more like a windup animation rather than a zoner (like Mamam ult) would be cool. Imagine throwing out a silence bomb, silencing like 3 people after like 0.5 seconds animation, then giving them a sort of "mark" so that the next time they're CCed they take extra damage? Or every time they cast an ability they take bonus damage, similar to her old ult. Make her 2 less of a zoning tool and more of a standard burst tool with utility We could also make her passive like amulet of silence. Where every 5 abilities cast near you makes your next basic attack silence. So you could do a basic attack to 1 combo, providing her more variety in utility.

Can't agree on Nox or Nu Wa, personally. Nox was basically current Arachne, in that she was either completely useless since her old 3 was bad or disgustingly overpowered because her 3 was good and could infinitely poke down your lane opponent. Once late game came around, she was garbage outside of a line silence UNTIL they buffed her ult to give both damage and stun at the end of the duration, which just meant that it was approximately like 5 seconds worth of a silence that ended in a 1 second stun. Her kit was so feast or famine that what we have now, despite being cancer, is better than back then. Meanwhile, Old Wa was just backdoor: the god. When she was around, games would end because Old Wa's team would deliberately take 4v5 fights while Old Wa shredded every tower and phoenix possible. Her stealth kept her off wards, so she was free to just get in and shred towers since, for some reason, her old 3 didn't just damage towers, it dealt FULL damage to them and stunned them. It was getting play in the pro scene, pros were complaining, there was no way that kit would have made it to today. Her current kit may be, well, boring as hell, but it's so much better than the one-god win condition that disincentivized any fights whatsoever. That said, it was way too much fun.

3:05 Yeah, Bastet's cat army ult was so erratic. If the mage had their clear up, you just instantly lost ult. If not, it was inordinately difficult to survive. The stim Bastet ult was also really annoying. I had so many teammates who would leap in, use her 2 and 3, and then ult for no apparent reason. The current one (CC) is decent. It's better Fenrir ult that she doesn't have to be out of position to use. I don't think it's amazing, but I like it the most of the 3 options. 6:15 Agreed that burst Freya felt good to play and horrible to play against. Honestly, I dislike playing her in general simply because she's only ranged some of the time (Sol and Chronos feel good, but the switching with Freya just feels clunky). It was horrendously unbalanced, though. 7:28 The current Ravana is amazing. The release was really bad. So bad that sometimes you got him in the Body Swap MOTD (he was a warrior then). Ironically, I do occasionally build him like a warrior now. 13:54 I actually prefer the reworked Loki. He doesn't feel so lacking in counterplay options when playing against him now with the slight delay on his ult. His 2 not taunting minions means he can't split push like he used to (although the new 2 can actually contribute a bit to a teamfight). The biggest thing is that now I don't feel the need to wash my hands after playing him (before the rework I only played him in Assault). 19:35 The 'Imagine this ability in modern Smite. It would give 5 other stats and refresh in duration or something...' is way too true. With the nerfening, patch notes talked at length about the power creep of items and trying to bring that back down. Honestly, the power creep with characters is at least as bad, possibly worse. Too many old characters just don't compete as well with recent releases. They do occasionally rework older characters, but they need an entire 'season of the past' or something with a couple of reworks each patch and possibly no new characters during that.

What I would’ve done for Persephone if I were to partially revert her: -Give her back her old manual placing plants but keep the current running plant -Have her 2 plant explosion be on a .5 second delay to avoid instant minefield explosions (which many hated or thought was the most op part) - let her 1 go through enemies again to compensate for losing the current 2 -Give her the next level seed again on the 3 Honestly that passive can be gutted for all I care, her ult they could change too and I wouldn’t bat an eye. I would even give her another special plant just to keep the theme of pure plant summons. Maybe one that breathes spores onto enemies or something. Don’t care about the passive and ult but dear god return some of that uniqueness of her old kit. She was once my favorite in the entire game like I was never as drawn to a moba character as much as her before, she was really special 😭 Wish they experimented more with nerfs and adjustments before the sudden rework hammer but we’re used to that by now.

If i was to rework erlang i'd keep the passive the same and his 1 the same. Remove the 2 and make his taunt his 2 without the healing. Give him 3 forms of transformation on his 72 transformation one is a knockup, one is a shield and the third hits with haste. Ult is CC immunity with an instant heal following by a ticking heal.

I think at lower levels Kali will always be what you explained but she has the Arachne effect, nobody in masters is scared of the pick nor does it get banned anymore. That’s the only reason i say that. But I figured you’d at least briefly cover the kuku Ao kuang situation cause it’s funny, and yeah I get that hades thing but I thought his ult was completely different as a guardian, with like of sight and the buffs debuffs it provided, which once again I suppose you’re right cause they’d make minor changes for a reclass. pers flowers are stupidly annoying and thats their only purpose, im learning her and i basically never use her flowers and still have more than enough dmg and poke to do everything needed. rework the flowers and shes good tier, oh and make her jump not an annoying shit to use, half the time it goes the opposite direction you ask for

I'll take a hard pass on old erlangs play pattern. The amount of level 2 kill potential he used to have with the knock up cancel and kill you was one of the most cancerous things in the game in season 8. Sure the game has changed a lot since then but I'd rather they look at something else

Literally just got mage whos made to be like an assassin, ao has probably never been better in mid then solo or jungle. Yet erlang "needed" to be nerfed because he wasnt better in solo then jungle.. got it mages can do anyrole other then mid but not warriors. No one tell them Jorgmander can play every role better then support.
