Everything about this scene was insane. CASE, TARS and Coop all had to work together to match the Endurance's *precession.* It wasn't a simple spin, it was like a spirograph gear around a ring, the Endurance was precessing around an altered center of mass. Now back that with a church organ that at the end hits such a high volume *you can hear the whole building shake* if you listen closely. GodDAMN that scene was something awesome.

Sioux City 1989 DC10 crash lands - "It was soon clear that there had been a complete failure of hydraulic power, which resulted in the inability to operate any of the primary flight control surfaces." The crew was able to put the aircraft on the runway. The aircraft rolled inverted and many were killed but two thirds survived. Later, in the simulator, expert pilots could not duplicate what this crew did. This is what this scene in Interstellar reminds me of.

Good Observation There!!! And We Can See That Some Of The Endurance's Windows Are Glowing Red (The Point Of No Return To Orbit And Commited To Re-Entry!). Doctor Brand Even Says That The Endurance Has Got No Heat Shield!!! If Tars says 67-68 rpm it’s 40-50 G, they’re dead. If you watch though it’s really more like 15-20 rpm if you count yourself. Which works out at 2-5 G. Pilots can do that without their special g suits.

Because when they are spinning at the same rate the inertial frame of reference becomes relative to space, as all motion is relative, you can think of it as them being still while "everything outside" is spinning
@johnsilcox82 жыл бұрын
@@yzlfc95 Yeah, but he used his ship to stop the spin of the station pretty quickly, within less than a minute. There's no way that docking port was engineered to withstand that kind of torque stress. It would have to have been slowed down much slower than what the movie showed.
