A drive through the new interchange between I-40 and I-77 in Statesville, North Carolina, accessing various entry and exit ramps.

Hopefully Interstate 40 will be extended through Bakersfield and to Interstate 5 at least, if not all the way to Paso Robles and make it a coast to coast highway. This has been rumored for decades and the completion of the Centennial Corridor has made it even more possible!

@@kennypalermo9071 Probably not, I-40 was used to be the end at I-15 in Barstow. I-40 did not meet I-5 west of Bakersfield.

I am glad to see that for Interstate 40 that the control cities are Winston-Salem going eastbound and Asheville going westbound. Makes sense. In fact this is what the control cities for Interstate 40 in North Carolina should be between the Tennessee border and the Eastern end I-40 East Asheville Winston-Salem Greensboro Raleigh Wilmington I-40 West Raleigh Greensboro Winston-Salem Asheville Knoxville
