Why do the new exit numbers increase going Westbound? Shouldn’t it be the other way around?

The highway which was supposed to be a southern bypass of Hartford was canceled and since this is the only built segment with federal funding, that’s why they couldn’t include CT 66 in the same mileage. The exits in Meriden are less than a mile apart.
