Follows TX Loop 1 Mopac Expressway from Slaughter Lane to TX Toll 45, over to US-183A Toll. Highlights include some great scenery, the Mopac Improvement Project, and Austin's first stack interchange.

I like how you have the street signs come out on queue. I love Austin; lived there for 16 years. Life happened and I had to move. I still come back from time to time. It's growing like wildfire. Another high-rise going up downtown. Keep 'em coming JD.
@robertpreskop44256 жыл бұрын
DriverJackOB1 Austin needs to stop growing because it has nothing to offer other than a suburban style cityscape of strip plazas, pawnshops, seedy bars, overhead power lines, billboards, and look alike one story ranch style houses. Plus the natives are arrogant and downright nasty towards others. Both your urban infrastructure and traffic congestion is definitely third world!

Wish that you would post videos more often because they're great. And for some reason I like your signs and how they have blinking arrows to indicate what path you take.
@InterstateJD8 жыл бұрын
Thanks, it's a time (mostly procrastination tbh) issue. As for the signs, I got the blinking arrows idea from the works of the channel "American Roads" (which were an evolution from channel snownorthbcn, I believe). if you haven't checked it out I highly recommend it, some awesome content.

Thanks, Austin is indeed the most nature - focused metro area in the Triangle!
@schwenda37278 жыл бұрын
+InterstateJD was Austin a helluva lot less urban and metropolitan just a mere couple decades ago though???
@InterstateJD8 жыл бұрын
You can say that about basically every Texas metro, but yeah especially Austin. The city's proximity to the hills and the relatively underdeveloped areas really bring out its "greener" atmosphere.
@robertpreskop44256 жыл бұрын
InterstateJD well you can have arrogant, overrated, overpriced Austin. Dont let the beautiful highways and bucolic greenery fool you, Austin is architecturally hideous and sprawled out haphazardly and it is one of the most cold hearted and unfriendly cities in the country probably in all of the Americas. I lived in Austin for ten years and it sucked big time. Austin was not meant or equipped to be a big city so it needs to stop trying to keep up with Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, and Fort Worth. When I left Austin in mid 2001, Loop 1 still ended at Burnet Road at Parmer Lane (FM 734). It is not a loop highway so it would be more logical to designate it as Texas Route 1. But the TXDOT has very little if any logic. I dont miss Austin one bit and there would have to be a sunny 100 degree Fahrenheit day in Antarctica before I would ever go back to arrogant tinker belle Austin. AUSTIN STINKS! AUSTIN BLOWS! AUSTIN NEEDS TO STOP GROWING!

Ah Mopac, I am so happy that they are updating it.
@InterstateJD8 жыл бұрын
I wish they were truly updating it... not adding free lanes and narrowing the existing ones in favor of one toll lane doesn't move me all that much, to be honest. Mopac is still a rush to drive given light traffic though!
@dotdriveontransportation16878 жыл бұрын
I like to think that its better than nothing but I understand your point. Soon, I will be doing a video on I-635 Northeast section where there adding toll lanes there and talk about the public meeting I went to about that project. Very similar to Mopac

DOT (Drive On Transportation) What the goddamned hell is a MOPAC anyways! I guess Austinites are too mentally challenged to say Missouri- Pacific. I hate that ugly sprawled out overrated town and I dont miss living in Austin. What is there to miss in a city that consists mostly of pawnshops, strip plazas, seedy bars, billboards, overhead power lines, and look alike one story ranch homes all linked together by third world urban infrastructure and horrendous traffic congestion.

Top quality production! 01:31 Is that the same Colorado River that runs through Arizona's Grand Canyon??
@Dan_10228 жыл бұрын
it's a smaller different river than the west colorado
@InterstateJD8 жыл бұрын
Mm hm, that's the "other" Colorado River. Texas is so important that we get our very own, jk. Thanks for your kind regards
@Dan_10228 жыл бұрын
+InterstateJD honestly I like the texas colorado river more than the west colorado (except the glenwood canyon but only because the elevated viaduct of the 70 and how awesome the highway is) other than that I like our colorado river better because I don't like deserted areas much..

Anshul Bellamkonda how the goddamned hell can they give that toll road a 45 designation when there is an I-45 running from Galveston to Dallas.
I've been all over the Texaplex, and Austin and Dallas are some of my favorites. Did you film this on a Sunday morning, afternoon?
@robertpreskop44256 жыл бұрын
JMMT7022801 Houston, Fort Worth, and San Antonio are the best cities in the Texaplex. Dallas is pretty decent for the most part. However Austin sucks the big wazoo. Austin is architecturally hideous, suburban in character, overpriced, overhyped, and its natives are arrogant assholes. I lived in Austin for ten years, when I left that expensive miserable shithole on I-35 and the Colorado River, that was my personal Independence Day. You can have Austin which is the nation's worst state capital city. State capital cities like Hartford CT, Albany NY, Harrisburg PA and Charleston WV are urban utopia compared to shitty sprawled out tinker belle Austin TX.
