Interstate 40 East: Needles, California to Kingman, Arizona

My grandfather lived in Golden Valley. That ride from California to Kingman seemed to take an eternity when I was a kid. Kinda miss it now…

11:01 Love your showing of that sign of the solstices. In Michigan, I live between the 42nd and 43rd parallels, and summer is between 15 - 15 1/2 hours over the 14 1/2 hours in Arizona (sunset where I live is about 9:20). And that's why you see about 18-24 hours of daylight at that time in Alaska.

Good one as usual, Kyle. When I go 40, the Love’s at 40 and AZ 95 is where I usually fill up once I hit Arizona. Needles has a couple of good places to eat on old 66-the Wagon Wheel has great food, but I sure wouldn’t get gas there! You do need to get to New Mexico and Texas on 40 at some point...

Maybe my favorite highway in the Interstate Highway System. You must be planning on doing over I-40 in Arizona & New Mexico as well. I loved your I-40 videos you done from 2020.

Been on that route many times in the past. Back in the 80s there had been talk of splitting San Bernardino County in half and making Needles the seat of the hypothetical "Mohave County", which thankfully never happened. Arizona needs to fix their pothole situation before they even think of replacing the I-40 bridge, but that interchange in Kingman needs to happen and ease up the truck traffic in that area.

Live in Needles. Drive to Lake Havasu City monthly +, to Kingman. Last time to Kingman was July. The new paved section south of Kingman had not been completed. Oh what fun it was to drive the broken pavement between Yucca and Kingman east & west bound. Am dating myself have driven or rode to Kingman since the early 50's. Since your drive the section of I-40 from the Inspection station to beyond the overhead sign has been redone west & east bound. Your video due to the speed does not show how rough the road section is before getting to the Colorado River, though if you look closely at the one truck before the overpass to Park Moabi you will see how rough or bumpy it is. You must have been doing 80 mph +
