Funny fact: Cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema was rejected at the Amsterdam Film academy. Most graduates of the AFA are just working on crappy movies and series, Hoyte is rightnow one of the most respected Dutchman in Hollywood together with Rutger Hauer and Famke Jansen. The AFA must be pretty fucking ashamed.

Finally somebody figured how to market a movie without spoiling everyone. I don't know much about this movie. All I know is that it stars those people on the panel and Matt Damon, and I have no idea what he is doing.and I love that. I love how they did not shove every single cast member into a trailer. It's nice to see a movie like this. I'm getting sick of all the spoilers. It feels nice walking into a movie you are excited about, but at the same time you have no idea what's about to happen.

Everyone of my friends and people that I talked to who watched the movie says its too long or that it has to much science which is why they hated it. But to me it was one of the best films I've ever seen, because of the amazing visuals, some actual science, the fact that they managed to fit some story into it. Cried at the end. It will hurt your mind because of all the science and it will hurt your legs because the movie is three hours.

SPOILERS 2 things I learned from Interstellar so far after 1 visit to the theatre: 1. It's the pursuit of physical time travel by the human race 2. Or it could be a spiritual time travel in our own consciousness that aren't bound by space, time and gravity, the hint was when Anne said "Love transcend space and time" during a desperate moment in the ship..

Nolan gestures a lot with his left hand. So I'm guessing he is left handed. James Cameron is left handed, so is Ridley Scott. The right-brain controls vision and abstract thinking, and also the left side of the body. So its no surprise that these visionaries are left handed.

What a great panel. The movie was wonderful, the composing was perfect. There are many unscientific things in the movie which is a shame, but let us not forget that science fiction is half fiction and that half gives the writer leeway to be less precise in terms of scientific integrity. Entertainment is about escapism after all.

Just a tiny spoiler - if you have some knowledge of physics, blackholes, space travel or science in general, I advise you to go into this movie remembering that it is science fantasy, it is a movie. I made the foolish mistake of believing that it would adhere to some scientific logic and principles but there were several major glaring logical plot holes that made it feel almost childish in the way the movie was trying to act so scientific.

27kdon there are a lot of things that the reviewer miss. Warning, Spoiler: ".. defunded NASA somehow has the capability of launching dozens of crewed ships " - at school Cooper complain why his kid can't go to university & where is the government money is going. " ... underground silo that is literally right next to its work offices" - its not at NASA Florida, its at NORAD. (in the mountain!) " ... It wasn’t clear why the ships had to have a crew as opposed to being robotic," - Cooper & other character repeatedly say: "robot can't adapt" (same reason given by scientist today on why human spaceflight mission is good) "... and the idea that only low-bandwidth data could be sent back" - the message is carried by a probe orbiting the wormhole in & out like yo-yo. (like a mail courier) "...To get that kind of time dilation ...you need to be just over the surface of the black hole," - the crew said it is special "gentle" blackhole. (physicist Kip Thorne produced this movie, I guess it have reason, maybe its spinning). "...There would be huge tidal ... but they (shouldn't) move" - so if the planet rotate then that tidal will stay up at that place like some stick?? (sound silly... surely a thing that massive will have momentum and keep moving) Other stuff I don't know: - no mention of sunlight for planets in the movie - no mention of how hot is near blackhole for Endurance & Ranger spaceship to survive.

Great cast - but amateur questions and a terrible host ruined this! All the questions were leading. Movie journalists are becoming more and more self-absorbed and tabloid. They care more about the attention their question gets, than extracting something of true value from the cast. A good question to ask would be the greatest thing they've learned from this movie Or how their characters differ from themselves. Who cares what their carbon footprint is, favorite sci-fi character, or whether someone is a swede or swiss? Most journalists are nasty leeches with no actual talent in the field they aspire to, so they choose to criticise instead.

I loved the movie, but i was hoping anyone who has seen the movie can help me with some questions about the movie. What year was the movie set? Unless i wasn't paying attention i'm sure they didn't say what year it was. I take it, its set around 2050 as people are still driving around in old pick up trucks. Which i find a bit strange. There's no advancement in cars yetthey can fly to Saturn and beyond?? Why did the Lazurus Project only have one pilot for each ship? That seems very odd. Wouldn't it have made sense to send entire crews including mechanics (to make repairs on ship), other pilots, botonists for when they land on the panet and so on? What happened to Earth at the end?? It just ended with him on the Saturn space colony. It didnt even explain what happened to earth and all its inhabitants. If the crops were failing on earth, why not just use other methods such as hydroponics? Is it even plausible that their spaceship would even receive data from the pilots of the Lazuraus Project from their respective planets? Even if they did find and colonize a planet how was that meant to help the billions of people on earth? I have so many questions but theyre the ones that immediately came to mind. What exactly did Cooper do before being a farmer that made him so proficient at flying a spaceship? So if Cooper didnt arrive at NASA when he did, they going to go ahead with sending a multi billion dollar 'makinds last hope' into space without a proper pilot?? So when Cooper and his daughter Murph go out to find NASA was that Cooper giving himself and his daughter clues? eg, he was outside of time sort of thing. After all in the beginning she was telling him that she was seeing a ghost and they, especially her brother were making fun of her.

Even if they did find and colonize a planet how was that meant to help the billions of people on earth? -Plan A was meant to save the humans on earth. Plan B was meant to continue the human race, but all on earth would die. If the crops were failing on earth, why not just use other methods such as hydroponics? -I think it's same to assume that all crops were failing. Earth was "running out of food", it was just a matter of when. It's not a novel, it's a film, so they only have so much time to tell the story without going into every detail on all food options. It's set in the near future, nothing crazy. I'm sorry I can't help with the rest of the questions

Warning! Spoilers ahead: ".... Which i find a bit strange. There's no advancement in cars yetthey can fly to Saturn and beyond?? " - the government slash funding for everything (not even have MRI in hospital !!) only teach farming & more farming & MORE FARMING! (Cooper knows how to make robot harvester, everyone else ask Cooper to fix their robot, but Cooper's kid can only go to school to be farmer). "... That seems very odd. Wouldn't it have made sense to send entire crews including mechanics (to make repairs on ship), other pilots, botonists for when they land on the panet and so on?" - there are many wormholes and many astronaut have gone into and never gone back! (they don't have many ENDURANCE type spaceship to rescue them). "... It just ended with him on the Saturn space colony. It didnt even explain what happened to earth and all its inhabitants. " - NASA use Professor Brandt mathematics to use gravity to fly a giant starship into space with entire farm and houses. (did you not notice there was a FARM in space?) "... why not just use other methods such as hydroponics? " - the plague eat Nitrogen in Earth's air. (all plant also eat Nitrogen (a.k.a fertilizer), even in hydroponic! how do they escape this plague with hydroponics??? cannot escape!) " ... receive data from the pilots of the Lazuraus Project from their respective planets?" - yes they do! (how else they know Mann's planet have water and life? Dr. Mann sent them) "... Even if they did find and colonize a planet how was that meant to help the billions of people on earth?" - they don't need to colonize anymore. They have multiple giant spacestation with FARM & food (Murph came to visit Cooper from different station) "... What exactly did Cooper do before being a farmer that made him so proficient at flying a spaceship?" - Cooper flies bomber spaceship that flies at Earth's stratosphere. (he says government told him to bomb 'hungry' peoples, but he refused... also his computer failed and his plane crashed. He like to tell TARS how to fly spaceships safely) "...So when Cooper and his daughter Murph go out to find NASA was that Cooper giving ... clues?" - yea, so Murph became top no.1 scientist and make Professor Brandt mathematic work & save everyone.

Snake711cool Plan A was meant to save 'the humans on earth' by taking them to another planet.

The reason they drive old cars is because there are a ton of old cars sitting around. A lot of people died from starvation when the blight first came. So, there is an excess of old technology that is not being used because houses and businesses became vacant. It's easier to take an old truck from a deceased person than it is to build new trucks.

"Even if they did find and colonize a planet how was that meant to help the billions of people on earth?" It wasn't meant to help the people on Earth. The professor never believed that they would figure out how to use the antigravity. He was lying to everybody. The antigrav space station was a scam designed to give people hope in the face of almost certain death. The Lazarus team was meant to colonize another planet with the embryos, and not return to Earth. Plan A only succeeded because Cooper refused to give up on his daughter, and he found a way to obtain the data needed for the equation that would allow the people back on Earth to get the antigrav station into space.
