Cooper was gifted to look inside a black hole and save humanity because he was the only one who could. The future was able to give him a 3 dimensional tesseract in the black hole that has 5 dimensional properties of going back in time. This allowed for Cooper to communicate to Murph in order for her to solve gravity and save humans from extinction. Interstellar portrays being forced to do what’s ultimately the right thing even though it’s devastating. All of it was only possible because he sacrificed his entire future with his family
