Never properly understood the application of intervals beyond "okay, it's a note that is so far away from another... so what?". This exercise and video in general helps put into perspective the phonetic meaning behind it. Great stuff!

This is what happens when you give scientists musical instruments. EDIT: I I understand what you're gettign at Ben but I need to finish your fretboard memorisation exercise and memorise a scale first. This feels pretty advanced.

I want to thank you for these lessons! I've played for many many years basically just by ear and this stuff just puts everything in place in a way that i feel really supports my growth as a guitarist and a songwriter. Thank you for sharing this information and your gift of musical educationing!

Question for Ben: so is there a pattern/reason why the tabs are the way they are? I'm working on learning the pdf you've linked to, but I'm struggling to determine the why. If it's notated the way it is out of pure bloodymindedness on your end, that's fine. But if there's a reason behind this madness, I'd love to know what it is. Thanks!

Hey Ben! Late comment but would you consider it essential/ useful to practise this exercise in all the different scale patterns (e.g root A string pattern 2)? Also how do you decide which interval you'll focus on each practise session? Thanks!

Quick question why is it that were using generic intervals and not say minor seconds and then major seconds and why is it okay that in for example the first excersise there is major and minor seconds but we just say seconds? just wondering is this a better way to practice them then running through minor seconds then major seconds etc.

+sophie krop I think it's because if you practice intervals within a key, you will have more options if you include the major and minor versions of each interval. For instance, there are only two minor seconds in a major key, but 5 major seconds.
