The interview was produced during the 'Barcelona Academy for Mediterranean Municipalities (BAMM) held in Barcelona in October 2024. The first edition of the BAMM focused on "Green and Blue Cities." This annual program has been designed for elected officials and senior technical officials from Mediterranean city councils. Its primary objective is to share knowledge, experiences, and best practices in sustainable urban development and climate resilience, establishing a regional reference initiative.
David Llistar is head of the Directorate of Global Justice and International Cooperation of the Barcelona City Council. He works to deploy a vision of "broadband cooperation" to the whole government's action. He holds a degree in physical sciences from the UB and a PhD from the UPC with a thesis on international relations and cooperation that you can find among other publications at Academia.edu. Among them some master's and postgraduate studies on development. In these facets, he has worked in several universities, organisations, and governments. His work for the Observatory of Debt in Globalisation (ODG) within the framework of the UNESCO Chair of Sustainability at the UPC, of which he was co-founder and coordinator. He was also a representative of the Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation of the Generalitat de Catalunya in Ecuador. The publication he is most proud of is ‘Anticooperación Norte-Sur. Los problemas del Sur no se resuelven con más ayuda internacional’, published by l'ODG, TNI and Icària in 2009.
