I love that they mentioned this cause im also from manchester uk and i was always fascinated by this aswell! Think its because I associate them with the batman movies of the 80s and 90s. I remember last january i was on a night out in san francisco and i saw a manhole with the steam coming out, thought it would be a cool idea to picture me sat on it. Bad idea! The heat took me completely by surprise hahahaha
