Here it is, 2019 and I'm still watching this series over and over. Fantastic stories and great acting. A reboot of this show would be a wise decision.

@@garyhunt764 I think just doing a remake would be a bit pointless, BUT to start with the same basic story and charictors, maybe do the first 4 episodes more or less the same. Then do new stories from that point on.

My god really? i remember the first run it must've been 1980-81 which would've been the 3rd and 4th series. I was very young. But i hadn't seen Avon or anything to do with Blake's seven since this year finding it on you tube some 37 years later, and he is still as brilliant as i remember as a child.

My social circle in high school in 1985 was totally into this show. It was being run and rerun on a local TV station. Servalan was so iconic as a villain, and played so beautifully by Jacqueline Pearce. She made it intense instead of campy, and that takes serious talent.

I find Gareth's comments about other actors being prettier than him, and not being good-looking enough to be the hero quite sad. Paul Darrow was obviously meant to be the classically handsome & dashing one in B7, but despite Gareth's protests during this interview he was very attractive. Tall & strapping with a strong-featured, expressive face and a simply glorious voice that could melt butter, he had an earthy sex appeal that was a wonderful foil for Paul Darrow's elegance.

True, I think deep down G.T. regrets leaving when he goes to convetions and sees how much all the fans enjoy having him there and wishes he's stuck around even if Avon STILL got to be in charge! This has gone on long enough! I demand that we get a rebooted Blake's 7 series! Firefly was a decent stab at the "rogues in space" formula that Blake's 7 invented ... but it's not been done properly in 40 years. Can you imagine something as brilliant as Game of Thrones or Westworld, called "Blake's 7"? High budget, grade A writing and acting - no commercials because it's on HBO or Starz (or a fully committed BBC - like with Dr Who) - Basically what it was always set out to be ... the opposite of glossy, hopeful Star Trek ... where the Federation is out to stamp down on any opposition, not be nice and broker peace between warring factions. :) But the show would live or die on its casting - who should play Blake's 7? I'll start us off - I probably won't put up much of a defence if anybody has some alternative suggestions, I know I'm being VERY Game of Thrones biased (but those guys will be out of work in a years' time!) - they're proven actors of the highest quality, but they're also just a starting point for the discussion: BLAKE - a freedom fighter framed as a pedophile by The Federation: Christopher Eccleston AVON - a cynical, intelligent, ruthless thorn in Blake's side: Benedict Cumberbatch TARRANT - a suave, ex-Federation pilot: Adrian Lester GAN - a gentle giant that accidentally killed someone and got a life sentence: Gwendoline Christie [yes - I changed the gender] CALLY - an empathic humanoid alien: Jodie Whittaker VILLA - not as cowardly and "comic reliefy" as in the original series, an expert in picking locks and any type of theft, mechanical or cyber - also serves as the ship's mechanic: Peter Dinklage DAYNA (yes - it really IS 7 crew members this time) - a born survivor on her home planet - an expert at combat and martial arts: Maisie Williams ZEN - the ship's computer: Anthony Howell (who played the android Samuels in the game Alien Isolation) ORAC - a supercomputer, capable of searching for any known fact; also VILLA's best friend: Alicia Vikander SERVELAN - Prime Minister of the evil Galactic Federation: Catriona Balfe I'm creaming my pants just imagining "nu" Blake's 7 with these actors - it would be beyond awesome. Pirate's in Space - still hasn't been done right ... the original show had the actors, but rubbish special FX and a few badly written episodes. It was all done on the cheap, and I loved it nevertheless! - which shows that there's something there. Now ... put some money into it ... Class A actors in all positions ... I'm convinced it could be just as unmissable as Game of Thrones or Westworld. [I would definitely subscribe to the channel that made this show] Everyone loves pirates - everyone loves underdogs who are freedom fighters - with even an ounce of conviction, it's a smash hit waiting to happen. Final thoughts - music - full orchestra, but the same epic themes and style used in the original show (such an awesome theme tune) tone - very earthy and "used car" - more like "Alien" than Star Trek or Firefly.

I have always said when Stephen greif left B7, Travis really should have gone in the finale of season 1 Orac and in season 2 of of B7 Brian Croucher really should have been cast as a totally new character with a new name instead of taking over another mans role which really did not work at all.
@leaderstragg12 жыл бұрын
I agree, so he wasn't some square-jawed, barrel-chested tower of muscle. BIG DEAL! His performance as Rog Blake was still awesome because you could sympathize AND root for him both at the same time! He should be proud to have brought such a great character to life and stop listening to cynical critics who call "Blake's 7" a "guilty pleasure" just because the writers fumbled the ball once in awhile and the special effects weren't blowing peoples minds every time they were shown!

Was Gareth wearing his Sunday best? He came off a bit rude to Jackie and somewhat pompous, but perhaps it was due to nervousness. His comment about wanting to move on after Season 2 so as to avoid being typecast doesn't ring quite true, he left the show because he wanted more control and didn't get it. Nevertheless, it was nice to see them interviewed after all these years. Jackie was very charming and still retains that sultriness she brought to the role of Servelan.

Servalan's death at the end of "Terminal" would have been too much of a plot-hole since she should have known better than to assume the Liberator was in perfect working condition despite it being obvious that there was something seriously wrong with it! So I'm afraid her escaping before it was too late doesn't really bother me that much, I'm more annoyed with how the Liberator was destroyed in the first place...

Del Grant was a great character and he REALLY should have become a reserve member of Blake's crew if nothing else, (Although after what happened to his sister I bet he would have had some CHOICE words for Kerr Avon!) I liked Del Tarrant but he seemed to be there just to appeal to the younger audience memebers and not much more! Some people actually enjoyed Avon being the main focus of the show instead of Blake so in a way, I suppose his leaving wasn't so bad for EVERYONE.

It's interesting that they really don't understand the fan phenomenon at all -- they seem to regard the fans as good-hearted but nonetheless nutters -- and that they saw conventions as another form of work. It perhaps isn't that they *want* to see their fans in a poor light, but that they don't have any other context in which to see them.
