Could’ve been a sloppy mess but the band stepped up for Manowar, stepped up for Joakims voice and pulled off one of the most unique and refreshing performances I’ve ever seen. Heroes are born when the plans fail.

You definitely won new fans at HellFest. I was there, not knowing you much beforehand. And you did what was right : not giving up and make the best out of the situation. THAT is the right attitude. Thank you so much. Manowar's behaviour was such a betrayal, I felt bad for all the die-hard fans I met on the HellFest grounds. Some had travelled hundreds of miles to see this show.

I love both Manowar and Sabaton. There’s always two sides to every story but ultimately it’s the fans who turned up to see Manowar who I feel sorry for.

There is only one truth, and the truth is that Manowar decided not to play and Sabaton did their best to perform. Excuses yes, there are plenty and Manowar for sure had a bunch of them, for not playing.

​@@mikatu I know someone who was at hellfest working and Manowar turned up saying they want to sound check when it was known they couldn't as Knotfest was day before they was due to headline. Joey is known to be very very difficult to work with hence why alot of big festivals won't book them even Wacken won't have them and it's public Bloodstock negotiated with them and financially was unreasonable

Everytime I listen to Manowar, I feel the raw POWER of METAL in my hearth. Also sadness, because I just can't believe that they let me down and all of my friends at Hellfest. We were 60 000 warriors waiting on the battlefield and the Kings of Metal deserted us, but there were guitards, drums on set, even if they played with no fireworks we would have been happy.

@@RadioMetalTV What are you talking about? MANOWAR chose to NOT PLAY at Hellfest festival 2019. It was a disaster. They gave up on 60 000 people waiting for them.

@@PogU_4Life No body know the true official story... As a media, we can't say anything without to know what really happened with Manowar. The fact is Sabaton came twice on stage and they did a big big show. We are sure about that.

Manowar didn't want to do that. Hellfest royally fucked them over. Apparently, Manowar's staff were treated badly and unfortunately, because it's Manowar, they wouldn't take it

I’m a die hard Maiden fan. I’ve seen them 25 times and plan to another 4 this year. I’ve been low key stressed the last few years with their obvious retirement coming down the pipeline: “What the hell am I going to do with my life, free time, time off work?” And then I discovered Sabaton, I met Chris the other night, such an awesome guy. I’m so happy I found a band that I’ve latched on to as strongly as them. Fan for life 🤘

Even though I'm not a huge fan of Sabaton, they gained my total respect for stepping up and replace Manowar despite the health conditions of Joakim. I was didn't care that much about Manowar and got so disapointed for their f**king diva attitude. Being on site the day before to sell their 50€ shirts and cancelling last minute, which to me is the biggest middle finger to the fans who came for them (and they were a lot !). Sabaton's show was really good and yeah, they got a lot of new fans on that night !

J'ai découvert Sabaton le soir du knotfest. J'avais pas voulus faire des recherches sur la liste d'artiste du knot et hellfest histoire de me faire une idée et de partir sans a priori. Il étais genre 1h du mat (Slipknot avais fais le plein de rappel), il faisait froid (enfin !) et mon pote, fan du groupe m'a dit "reste, ils sont trop bien" une bière a la main... J'ai été soufflé par la performance et j'me suis retourné au camp crevé mais heureux d'avoir entendus se groupe pour entamer le fest. Le lendemain l'annulation de Manowar en avais pas étonné beaucoup sous la tonnelle et quand on a reçu la notif que Sabaton reprenais le service j'étais contents de me dire "grosse soirée encore ! MERCI SABATON de sauver le Fest'". Sabaton avais clôturé sur un air chanté la veille et arrivé au moment ou le rideau est éclairé, tout le monde a repris l'air, d'un aire de dire "on veux la suite" ! Joakim a tout donné et pas une seule fois on l'a blâmé pour ce qui se passait tant on avais de respect pour faire une deuxième fois le service avec un coeur, une scène des effets pyro, etc... Quand finalement il a mis les guitariste devant le micro on a eu l'impression de partager un moment encore plus fort avec eux, comme si on étais en répet avec eux, une bande de potes qui s'éclatais a faire des reprises dans un garage. Sauf que la le garage c'étais un main stage du HellFest et qu'on étais des milliers de potes avec Joakim qui jouais le hipeman, c'étais énorme ! Donc MERCI Sabaton. Comme beaucoup d'autres se soir la, vous avez gagné mon cœur de métaleux !

Knowing the lyrics to sing is different from knowing the lyrics to play along. Yes, you might know the words. for almost everything, but during a performance things get complicated and even a vocalist might make an error here and there.
