I think what made her great was that she was honest. Her face was remarkable in that it could display so many emotions. She undoubtedly felt on a great level and this is what enormously added to her acting talents. On film, she came across without pretense. And she was beautiful and luminous at that. Love her much. Miss her even more if that's possible. A star of the highest caliber!

Simone Signoret remains in our hearts and minds as one of the loveliest women and greatest actresses in world cinema. Her acting was a miracle of intelligence and sensibility, trying to convey to us the absolute truth of her character's inner soul. As a woman and public person, she fought for human rights and always had her heart in the right place. I miss her a lot. An artist of her stature is truly irreplaceable.

Montant ne la méritait pas, mais il a été responsable de l’auto destruction de cette très attachante et belle femme, après publique trahison Marilyn et bien d’autres privées.

Yves et Simone - perhaps the most impressive couple to emerge from the Avant-Garde period. This old interview with Signoret perhaps underscores best why I so love every old film they ever made. “Totally absorbed” in every rôle they took on!

The more of this type of thing and 'discovering' SS's movies I never knew about makes me like her more and more. The last 2 of her movies I have seen are "Term of Trial" and "Games." I would recommend both of them. However, "Les Diaboliques" is still my favorite. It manages to be very eerie every I time I watch it. In fact, it's my favorite French movie of all. I love her smile.

I saw her and Montand's grave at Pere Lachaise last October. She adopted the French attitude of her time and turned a blind eye to Montand's proliferant womanizing, but she was such a lovely, intelligent, complex and honest woman - a very womanly woman - and deserved so much better. As she reached her 50's and her looks began to fade, she turned to drink for comfort and chainsmoked herself to death while the self-absorbed, narcissistic Montand cheated on her left and right with much younger women. Simone was a beautiful, intriguing woman and an amazingly accomplished, multi-awarded actress. Maybe Yves was a bit jealous, non?

Actrice internationale, grande humilité qui lui fait dire qu'elle a eu de la chance de jouer dans de bons films, grâce au salaires de Montand et au hasard, pas fière du tout, Nina Simone s'est nommée ainsi pour cette grande dame

This interview was done 12 years after Casque D'Or (see her answer at 5:33) which was produced in 1952. So this interview was done in 1964 when Signoret was 43 years old.
