20 years ago I worked in Mongolia and was surprised (then) to find out that Russia & Mongolia have a long historical relationship, particularly in the 20th century. While I was there, there were many Americans doing business and hardly any Russians - but the Mongolian people often spoke fondly of the time when the Russian were there, helping to build / Assist Mongolia infrastructure including educational & medical facilities. Fast forward to now - it can be said that Mongolia has not forgotten Russia's behavior in the past and as a result, still trust them implicitly. Hence the ICC can go pound sand.

But it is interesting that at the time most Mongolians were very distrustful of China, to the extent that when introduced they would ALWAYS say "they are not Chinese"? Even though it was never asked. That said: Considering the closeness of China & Russia these days via BRICS, its interesting how Russia is the one making overtures. Me thinks the plots thickens.

@@seanou2837 No, they are not. No country has sent combat soldiers to Ukraine. Volunteers have gone to fight in Ukraine as mercenaries, but they are not part of an official military. Yet, even this source has dried up because most of them are KIA. No one wants to fight when there is no hope of winning. There are better ways to die than being disassembled by incessant Russian artillery. As an American, there is no core American interest in Ukraine or Europe generally. It's not our problem if Europeans cannot get along with each other.

Russia was never trying to conquer all of Ukraine! Just as the previous reply to your comment, they also wanted to limit civilian casualties. Russia established a Defense in Depth, which grinds down its opponent, which has worked very well! Also, I believe Russia (Putin) remained patient, hoping for a peace treaty (agreement)! However, it appears that Russia will end this war on their terms now! Just my opinion.
