Go Larry! Great interview! Thanks for helping me get stated in 2016. I have a few plants left in my forest. Still gotta learn best way to stratify my berries and seeds. In the fridge in a baggie with moss isn't working.

Great video and thank you for the time and effort of putting this out there. I just recently purchased my first home and it is on 4 acres of wooded property and have been looking for some ideas of what I may do with the land. Never even considered forest farming.

My great grandpa and great aunt's grew it on their farm in VA they we're were very old and could eat anything they all loved to be in their 100's. I would love to plant my own for health reasons. God Bless you

Could it be planted this spring? Or is it the fall
@maylucriandesigns5 жыл бұрын
late fall to very early spring, you want to get the stratified seeds in the ground before it pushes growth in spring. so anytime the soil is workable (not frozen over) but before the spring flush of growth. im on the west coast and its quite mild I am planting in February but I would prefer to do it in November.

Larry is a class act. I called him and stopped by on my way across Maryland. He was busy in the field but took time out of his day to answer my questions and give me a tour of his place. I have since identified natural Ginseng growing on my property and have planted seed as well. Thank you Larry for passing along your knowledge.

Thank you for your unusual work. Doctors ignored my health for over 10 years and I now have oozing smelling gangrene??? I'm trying this and I hope that it works. I was throwing up and had all symptoms of blood poisoning including dark veins, sunken jaundice eyes, etc. I am able to keep living and working thanks to herbs someone on youtube suggested years ago that I never tried till now. The doctors have refused to test, diagnose, or treat me since 2010. They took my money, though.

So really you don't have to dig down in the dirt to plant just throw it out on top of the soil

Just before the maple leaves fall so they cover naturally as mulch. Maple leaves in particular because they are rich in calcium.

You will lose alot to mice if you just scatter it like that . Pop them in the soil about an inch deep and you will have a lot better germination rates .

I am seeing a trend in this area...all eggs in one basket. From Coal to Ginseng. There has to be an effort to diversify. I hate to see tilling in a forest, with the emergence of no till. Is this the only way?

@joshsmith29824 жыл бұрын
Plant now till hard freeze preferably on a hill . Not to steep though . You will be making money in 6 -10 years . Buy at least 5-10 lbs of seeds

You called it forest farming but you brought in a rototiller and you grow them in monoculture. Pretty soon you'll have to spray some pesticide to kill pests that thrive in tilled, monoculture farm. I feel sorry for those trees.
