I met Croc and his road dawg, Ty, outside of an Albertson's during a rainy week in Northern Nevada. Croc struck me as friendly, content, and very self-aware. He and Ty were pleasant to be around and easy to talk to during the couple days that I had known them on their journey West.
At 27, Croc had been going into his fourth year living outside, which was mostly spent traveling around the United States. He said that traveling is what he feels he needs to do in order to maintain his mental health, although it's exhausting and he often feels he may need a break.
As someone who has lost people in his life due to mental health struggles and drug addiction, he wanted to bring awareness to harm reduction.. carrying Narcan/Naloxone to help revive those experiencing an opioid overdose, and using resources such as Never Use Alone if you are an active drug user, which is a safe way for someone to alert paramedics if you have an overdose.

What is LILAC all about?
As of this video, this is one person's grassroots passion project. You can call me Sunn or Sunnflower, and my goal is to seek out those who are struggling to meet basic needs and/or fit into the mold that society demands of us, to give them a moment of relief and plant a seed of hope within them through acts of kindness. I also intend to give these people a platform to share their stories and ideas, and to join the conversation of homelessness and home-free living, in order to combat the stigma and dehumanization of people who live that lifestyle, whether they chose it or not. My hope is that through sharing their personal stories, they may also receive donations directly from viewers like yourself, through Cashapp, Venmo, or PayPal.
I chose the name LILAC (Love in Live Action Coalition) not only because I want to spread love, share videos and interviews, and connect with others with the same mission, but also in memory of my friend Keith Davis, who went missing at sea as a Fisheries Observer in 2015. Keith was an activist for countless causes who inspired and helped people around the world, and who continues to do so even after his death. During a low time in my life, Keith took me outside of his home to show me the lilacs he had planted.. he picked one and handed it to me while I was crying. It was a small gesture, but one full of silent acknowledgment and love that meant the world to me at that moment. I hope to share that same sense of meaning with others, to remind people that they are seen, they are loved, and they are supported.
