When Spencer says "we did everything the wrong way when we were kids" and meaning that musically I find it ironic that everything they did then is what I am missing from this newer material..
@fortodaymark6 жыл бұрын
You're totally spot on. They will not be remembered fondly for their latest but rather their material that they did as kids. Then why did they have a reunion tour playing those first two albums with Spencer??

I remember being at warped tour when I was 17 and Aaron was sitting down after a set, he looked so graceful and calm. I'm not upset about him gaining some weight but he does seem like he must have went through some stuff from his new appearance. He seems more humble though now, he was a little stuck up back then.

Great interview! Interesting to find out that Spencer and Aaron actually don't like the new music videos. I suspected it! Doesn't match the style of the music. As for good music videos, I think many people share the opinion that the videos for "In Regards to Myself" and "Writing on the Walls" were near perfect. Those grabbed a lot of attention back in the day.
@alany26696 жыл бұрын
i actually dont like most of the underoath videos. Its like, they are just zooming in on their faces wayyy to much. Especially for "In regards to myself" and "youre ever so inviting "
@chrissavage52986 жыл бұрын
Dooood yesssss. I cannot watch the You're Ever So Inviting video. It is the most cringe worthy music video I've ever seen and to be honest it's kind of hurt the song for me. Both Aaron and Spencer's facial expressions are obnoxiously over the top, zoomed in on them most of the time, the group is wearing super dorky suits, it's an ugly color scheme, i think it's like 4:3 aspect ratio or something if I remember correctly, etc. In Regards to Myself is way better, although Aaron's facial expressions are still a little silly at times.

I have mad respect for underoath, they have left somewhat of a legacy in music for example, they were the first to really popularize the mid 2000s screamo/post hardcore, one of the few bands to prove that just cause they are Christian doesn’t mean that they are just for Christians. They hit number 2 on billboard 200 which at the time for a screamo album was impressive. But most importantly, they have made great music for 20 years.

The statement he makes shows where his heart is "You have to do what makes you happy, and do what you want". So pretty much living for the flesh and doing what the flesh wants not living for the spirit and the fact that Jesus is living within you. There is no denying self and what you want and doing what God wants you to do. This is a sad situation where a lot of quote un quote Christian bands are. They want the best of both worlds. They want success and to be popular and have been willing to make whatever compromise that takes to make that happen. Rather than making a stand for Jesus and just making music and if it popular or people want to listen to it who cares. If God really wants their music out there he will do the work. Trust in HIM.

They're not Christian anymore. Some are, some aren't. But they have gone on record saying they are not a Christian band anymore and will break up again if they become one.
@safeharborpro6 жыл бұрын
That is sad, very sad. Jesus is real and we need Him now more than ever before. I pray that their hearts change towards God. Who knows what kind of hurt and heartache they have gone through in their young lives. I know there is a lot of stress put on these bands Christian or not. It is a tough life. I pray that they do become Christian's again no amount of fame or selling CD's or money is worth losing your soul.
@xbm79316 жыл бұрын
+safeharborpro Something I fear is that they blame all their criticism on Christians. Even in this video you see their tone towards them. They need to understand, many non religious people hate the new album, just like many religious people like it. They paint these things so black and white.....have you watched any "Bad Christian" interviews? Are you familiar with them?
@safeharborpro6 жыл бұрын
I am familiar with them and don't agree with their stance on things. I think they are guys excusing sin so that they can be "Relevant" or "Real" or whatever else you want to call it. If you are truly living with Jesus in you, you will not want to do the very things that he died to save you from. I am not saying you won't mess up and that you will be perfect but there should be some fruit in your life. Jesus himself said that he was the vine and we are the branches and whoever abides in him will bear much fruit. I have been hurt by Christian people the most in my life and it does not make me hate Christianity. It makes me realize that we are not finished yet and we all need to forgive and love each other more. As far as Underoath goes I only like certain songs of theirs anyway. Pretty much my favorite album of their was "They're Only Chasing Safety". After that I thought the music was OK but nothing great. So I agree with you that people in general are not really digging the new music.
