This is a my favorite set up. 74hp and a 150 Cimaf. PERFECT!

I've been really trying to figure out if this would work with the CAT259D HF. On paper it should but on the video she says they are looking for a bigger hp machine to run it. Sounds to me like it doesn't perform that well with a 74hp machine. If you had the 100hp why would you have the 150D? Just go to the 180D. My local CAT dealer provided a number to some customer that bought the 259D with the 150 head but they never returned my call. Unfortunately don't have time now to demo before the end of the year.

@@hoytballard5504 Thing is you always think you want more hp. But cost to production. 74hp works just fine.

See I was thinking the CAT259D with a 74hp and 30gpm high flow would have been one of the most powerful for it's size at 8900lbs. I was originally thinking of the CAT HM215C head. Even though CAT markets the 215 on the 259, a CAT mechanic told me it didn't really work well. So the Cimaf 150D looked like a good option. The cutting width of 59" is the same as most other branded heads out there (Bobcat, Deere, Bradco/Kubota). On paper it looks like a fit, just don't have any videos out there and no response from anyone that has bought that set up. I have an Ag tax exemption but it runs out on the 1st and I don't know if I'll get it again so we are looking at saving $7k in taxes on this setup which is around 98-99k with machine with land management package, two buckets, grapple, and 150 head. So I have all day to obsess about it. Don't have time to demo it and lock in the sale before the deadline and I was worried if it didn't work no one would buy a used 150 and the 259 would be just a dirt machine at that point. My only other alternative this late in the game is the Bobcat T770 with their 60" head, total out the door with the forestry pack $108k. Thanks for replying btw

@@hoytballard5504 Yeah the 259 just doesn't have the power. Some with the Bobcat 590. Got to jump to the 289 or the Bobcat 650 for that mulcher. Same 74hp but the pump I believe puts out more power.

So the CAT dealer doesn't have anything left but the 259. Couldn't get a 299 if I wanted by tomorrow. That would have been the ticket with the 299 and 180 head. I would have saved $9300 in taxes. Should have pulled the trigger on that what I had the chance. I guess the only option left is the Bobcat with their mulcher if I want to buy tomorrow. They don't sell cimaf and if they did you'd be waiting anyways. Just was hoping I could've figured out the 259 set up. It's kinda funny that .5 gpm and a 160 psi more makes a difference with the T650 versus the 259.

Very informative & helpful. I'm looking to get into the biz in 2019 in Central Florida, and you've helped with at least 2 considerations. You're quite lovely, as well!

I loved this videos. Great stuff. Does anyone know what kind of grinder that is she's using to sharpen the blades. Around the 4 minute mark? It's got a trigger, kill switch etc, so it looks petrol (or as you call it, gas). Looks like it would be great for sharpening out in the field. But I can't find one anywhere. Any info would be great. Thanks

It’s an attachment for weed wacker power heads, instead of a string head for trimming grass you clip a sanding/ grinding disk to it.

It comes with the denis cimaf heads when you buy it new gas powered grinder and a jig to sharpen the knives
