We cry all day long about black people being economically disenfranchised for so long, and we talk about unity, and supporting each other. But the second a black woman trademarks a technique and make a little money off of it, we have issues. When you take the class, EVERY. SINGLE. DOLLAR. that you make is YOURS. You don't have to pay a franchise fee to her. She makes her money off of classes and products. That's it. She could go soooo much further if she was greedy like that, but she is about empowering black women (and men, there are men Sisterlock locticians). Why can't we just take it as that?

i agree with you but the company makes money of fees to keep being certified and alot of other stuff too

And I don't see anything wrong with that. She just turned incorporated, so really, she is JUST NOW getting paid from Sisterlocks.

The technique does not seem to be trademarked ..she did not invent the technique only the.name is a trademark anyone can do interwoven microlocs. I am happy she is getting.paid and helping so many women go and stay natural

Actually, the wording of the technique and the tool is trademarked. Because of the way it's trademarked, you have to sign a waiver saying that you won't teach someone else how to do it. The reason why nappy loc was able to copy off of her was because they changed the grid, the wording on the manual, and the tool. The only reason why I know is because I took the class, and I know Dr. C.

I wouldn't call her a fraud. All I know is that she basically trademarked Sisterlocks and her tools and all for her company. Although Sisterlocks existed back then with Africans, they just did it to do it for them and their culture without a name for their technic (that's how I see it). Plus they used some form of red substance (saw on a photo on Pintrest). This is just my thought process on it.

Sisterlocks didn’t exist in Africa. they did traditional locks. Her consultants are now going to Africa, Kenya. etc

Dr. Cornwell never claimed that she created nor has she trademarked locs, microlocs or dreadlocks. She trademarked her business name and the tools she invented for locing hair. Her tool and method for loc'ing hair is unique to her company. What Dr. Cornwell said you may try to imitate, emulate, or duplicate but what you ain't gon do is call that mess SISTERLOCKS(TM)! Although this beautiful sister created a wonderful hair maintenance system for all of us to enjoy with ABSOLUTELY ZERO BENEFIT back to the founder, haters STILL gon hate on this queen no matter what. SMH 🤬 Please get a life.

agreed. she definitely got people wanting more interlocking because of Sisterlocks 😉 but she certainly wasn’t the inventor of interlocking.

true there is a picture on google hamer people interlocking their hair with some kind of red mud. Dr Cornwell did africana studies so maybe she saw it
