I feel like Musicians should be able to do whatever they want (Within Reason) or sounds good to them at least! The music, in my opinion, would turn out so much better if they did what they love rather than what “Other people want form them”! Idk I’m not in a band anymore but when I was, we got pressured into trying to conform to what “Everyone Else” thought they wanted! The thing is, 9 times out of 10 it ended up being okay.... But not what we set out to do! I feel like people (Fans, if you want to call them that) should just let the band do what they want to and if you don’t like it then don’t listen anymore, but at least it will be genuine for the band and they won’t get sick of the song as fast and they will have some sort of satisfaction knowing the song THEY wrote actually made it “Big”, not a song that someone else wrote and they just covered it! Idk that’s just my two pennies! Thanks for listening if you did and if you are reading this then please just tell me what you think is the best way to go about it! Also last thing....I’m not saying that covering songs is bad, I just meant that it’s a much more satisfying feeling when people gravitate to a song you wrote rather than someone else’s song that you are just covering! Again just my opinion! Let me know if you feel differently! :)
