First, I want all three of you to know that I appreciate you voicing our concerns, especially at 20:20 for the RBG community. That being said, the red flags I saw in this interview: 1) I have not met a single PvP player that competes in rated arenas/rbgs who said that they prefer the tier set system the way it is. They either prefer to have specific PvP tier sets or have tier sets disabled in PvP. Blizzard being satisfied with the way tier sets are now is disheartening. 2) They clearly did NOT learn the lessons they needed to learn from Solo Shuffle for BG Blitz. Without giving additional exclusive reward incentives to RBGs, BG Blitz becoming rated is going to hurt RBG participation. It's the Solo Shuffle bracket harming 3v3 participation problem all over again, but worse. George said at 21:18 that their goal is for players to play both BG Blitz and RBGs, but if they both give the same rewards, why would we? If they want us to play both, they got to give both brackets separate exclusive rewards or else there's no point. The RBG community has been asking for seasonal exclusive rewards, like seasonal mounts, for YEARS. I'm not trying to be toxic, but I don't understand their thought process.

You aren't being toxic. And I do think your concerns are valid. I like Tier sets. They add flavour to seasons; but I don't like it when a class I enjoy playing gets a "useless" feeling tier set (buff has no impact on PVP gameplay). I chalk this up in the "the game ain't perfect" bucket. I do hope they put more effort into the rewards systems for RBGB and RBG. I also get that George is a Combat Systems producer, so rewards are outside of his lanes. Hopefully they listened and we will see more updates.

I think something to be said about tier sets that no one really talks about is that: You don't want your character, rotationally to feel different from the PVE counterpart of your character. At the end of the day tier sets do influence rotation. It would be awkward to play your character one way with the same talent set in two different settings, no? Making things feel somewhat similar between PVE and PVP is important for PVE-ers accessibility into PVP and making them feel effective to persist and learn the game mode.

@@gabeagool6319 99% of specs are going to have different rotations for PvE and PvP with or without tier sets. Destro lock tier set, for example, was based on Demonfire which is garbage for PvP so most high rated locks opt out of running the tier set. That's not fair when other specs coincidently benefit from tier sets in PvP while others don't. Majority of PvPers would rather have tier sets not be a thing in PvP if that's how it continues to work.

Frustrating we didnt get any awnsers to key issues and concerns. Everything is "being talked about", but nothing is being done.

@@technicallypvppodcastAcknowledging issues is nothing new, they have been acknowledging a lot of issues from past expansions like Cata, WoD, Legion, BfA and SL. Why we pretend that didnt happen before really?

Solid interview; it's good to see that there's at least one PvP-related interview amongst the sea of Story and PvE-centered interviews so far for The War Within. One issue I had with this interview begins with an underlying problem that can be echoed across the entirety of Modern WoW's PvP atmosphere; time and again, the blanket term of PvP is misused by people who are referring ONLY to Rated Content. I don't think it's disingenuous by any means, considering Rated Content is the primary aspect of the greater PvP sphere, but this misuse draws desperately needed attention away from Unrated Battlegrounds, Epic Battlegrounds, and ESPECIALLY World PvP, all three of which are foundational dimensions of PvP and oftentimes a crucial introductory experience for new players who are curious about PvP content in the game. After years of this issue growing to the zenith we see today, this content has fallen deeply by the wayside. Not only this, but there are entire communities of players that devote their time to World PvP and Unrated Battlegrounds, who are struggling with the lack of support and content to keep their favorite part of WoW alive. WPvP's Dragonflight descent into Free for All in particular has made it feel the worst it has felt since PvP servers gave way to War Mode in BFA. Even then we had decent World PvP thanks to the combination of communities' dedication with the expansion's narrative and initial War Mode incentives, but that has since faded away with the lack of support and aforementioned design decisions. With that established, I can return to explaining the issue: There were no questions about Unrated Content and World PvP in this, a PvP interview. I understand how much the dialogue on Rated Content was needed, but communication NEEDS to be opened on the casual end of PvP. I can only hope that more PvP interviews are in the works leading up to TWW that include such discussions. TL;DR: There should be more discussion about Unrated Battlegrounds, Epic BGs, and World PvP in PvP Interviews.

Hmmm. I found his answer fairly clear. The intent to have 8v8 BGB and 10v10 premades in TWW (same as 3s and RSS were in DF).

love the interview!! He was asked twice about rbg titles and rewards and the question was lowkey dodged both times. Why are they so refusing to add seasonal title to rbg lmao ???

Thanks! I felt the one question was more about overall rewards, while the other was specific to RBGs and BGB to ensure there was incentives for both. As he said, they are focusing on the new BG and BGB gameplay systems; rewards will be looked at after launch.

I get the effort to try and keep this "positive" so we get more interviews but this one in particular just showed how out of touch they are with retail pvp. I feel like it should've been framed as a feedback interview where he asks you guys what they should do for pvp...because he clearly had no idea about half the issues you guys brought up

The guys seems super nice. Gotta say tho that the answers where pretty weak. I'm not getting any confidence that they are doing something about the major pvp issues and that the priority is always pve.
