As a metalhead from the 80s there was tons of metal in the 90s. I didn't listen to grunge, and I didn't have any problem finding metal/punk bands to keep listening to. Maybe some of it wasn't to Hellbutcher's taste, but there were a shit ton of fucking metal bands around in the 90s. Only Hair metal, thrash, and classic metal suffered. I was into Motorhead, Slayer, Sepultura, Obituary, Carcass, Cathedral, machinehead, Fear Factory, Entombed, Godflesh, Agnostic Front, Sick of it All, Rollins Band, Danzig, Corrosion of Conformity, White Zombie, etc. And agree with Hellbutcher, Metal is such a diverse genre of music that if one wanted to one wouldn't need to listen to any other genres of music. I'm pretty much the same I basically just listen to Metal and punk, occasionally I'll put on some Opera, but that's once in a blue moon, and I don't listen to any other genres of music other then that.
