It is indeed sad that we have lost one of the pioneers of modern recording.

I am happy that Joe Tarsia owned and operated Sigma Sounds Studios. It is like I own and use my computer and printers, doing document printing in the privacy of my home. Joe is a smooth operator. He was the best of the best.

I think it is vital for us all to capture the history of recording from those who were pioneers. We all have the technology for doing this, and we should all do what we can. Thanks for the kind comments.

I am an audiophile and audio fan. I have been interested in sound reproduction since I had my first high fidelity system of components in 1978. Joe Tarsia would dazzle my brilliance. I enjoy your interview, Doug and Joe. Producing this show was a nice job you did.

First off thanks for doing the interview & posting it for us folks to experience Mr. Tarsia's classic story, 2nd I always looked at the back of album covers & the insides of the 45's even though I didn't know of who was producing, mixing & at what studio the songs were recorded & mastered at. Philly International always listed Sigma Sound Studios on their records so I have had great love & respect for that studio since the middle 1970's (I'm 55) when I became a serious fan of the 'Philadelphia Sound'.

I wish to join you by agreeing with your comment all the way. I am 68 years-old and also a fan of Philadelphia International, as well as Motown, Atlantic and Stax, among other record labels. I am fascinated with sound reproduction. That is why I would need to see a radio station or a recording studio to feel the spirit of the sound.

Did he have Italian origin? just asking because of his name sounding Italian ( equally his Dominick Tarsia ). Stunning music out of Philly. Lush strings and horns, smooth sound. Thank you Joe

The irony of hearing a woman yapping in the background….. recorded by a ‘professional’ engineer, of an engineer. Must’ve been on a subway platform.

This was recorded at Joe Tarsia's home in a retirement community. The acoustics were not great, and there was some noise from the HVAC and Joe's wife on the phone. It was the only way to conduct the interview. Small price to pay for the valuable content.

@@DWFearnHazelriggIndustries all good; I was just kidding. Great interview!! I lived in Philly ‘90-‘95 and looked up at those hallowed walls many times as a musician hoping to get my chance.
