Interview with Joel Stern, Co-curator of This Hideous Replica

Hear from Joel Stern, co-curator of This Hideous Replica, as he describes the individual works and ideas behind this experimental project. Alongside artist and writer Sean Dockray, Stern is interested exploring the possibilities, boundaries and absurdities of monstrous replication.
This Hideous Replica is a concoction of artworks, performances, screenings, workshops and other uncanny encounters. A flawed, glitched and weird version of an exhibition with ‘its own life and its own affordances.’
On exhibition at RMIT Gallery from 23 August to 16 November 2024.
Joel Stern is an artist, researcher and curator based in Melbourne. He currently holds the position of Vice-Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellow at School of Media and Communication, RMIT University.
