Caught these folks live in Richmond, VA a couple nights ago. From the moment they stepped on stage to the moment they left, one continuous, seamless stream of music. Everything flowed so naturally, like a classical symphony. No breaks, no unnecessary staff banter. Pure music. One of the tightest shows I’ve ever seen. You couldn’t knock them off their groove with a wrecking ball. And their stage show/presence is killer. Beg, borrow, or steal to see them if you haven’t.

Did Laura Lee just tell us 'Father Time' is actually a keyboard player and hired him on a 'gut feeling'? This band is so fascinating.

DJ is hands down one of the most metronomic drummers I've ever heard but how he manages to impart so much soul at the same time is unfathomable. As I've heard someone else put it, it's like he is more in time than the universe itself, and this frees up those guitars to run riot in perfect balance.

Because Donald Johnson is NOT a drummer, he play drums. He doesn't overplay, minimalist set up, the better way. He remind me Bernard Purdie, quantic clock groove.

I heard that the International Atomic Time Association sets their cesium-133 atomic clocks to DJ's drum patterns.

No, the first atomic clock is Bernard "pretty" Purdie

The interviewer here also does such a great job, never heard someone ask what each band member thinks the others strengths are in this way, seems so obvious a question in hindsight but asking it seems to unlock some unspoken truths. Probably brings them closer together as band mates in a weird way. Everyone should do this at the own jobs now and again haha

Saw them earlier in the year, had “eh” expectations. Knew a few songs, they were good. Didn’t even buy the tickets until the day of. Whatever. Ever since, I’ve been obsessed. They’re mesmerizing. TUSUY.

88.9 is the best Radio 📻 Station in Milwaukee because it’s a College Independent station that plays all kinds of music! Not restricted 🚫 to the Top 40 or the same 50 songs rotated over and over that is killing FM Rock Radio 📻. Good Interview! 🎸😎🎸

Mark Speer is ingenious. A NOT drummer musician for drumming, and somebody to teach to play bass. Moreover women at bass are so steady, take a look at Carol Kaye or Tina Weymouth.

How come no one ever asks why Laura sings in Spanish or if she even knows Spanis. Because it could just be her reciting the lyrics but odds are she knows some since she’s from Texas
@maz2592 жыл бұрын
I think she said in an interview that she only speaks a little but her mom/grandparents speak fluent so that’s where she gets the Spanish lyrics from
@garythomas44312 жыл бұрын
Her grandfather was 1st generation Mexican American who of course spoke Spanish as his base language and laura spent a lot of time with him when she was young.
@boogiedownbronx732 жыл бұрын
Most people learn Spanish these days they grew up in Houston which is multicultural and here family is from Mexico originally from her mother's side.
