Mr, Moore is right about how fast one can develop using FOTTH. I used FORTH to create a remote vehicle tracking application with installations all over the world often. The guy on the other end often had no idea how to do any programming. Having them plug an RS232 into the 68HC11 board running forth, I could do the programming from Oklahoma and test it in Crist Church, New Zealand, with the customer. One night we converted the vehicle tracking application to a vehicle counter for a Demo for the government RFP by adding two photoelectric beam sensors from Radio Shack to detect the vehicles as they passed the point. The time, direction of travel, and speed were recorded then a report was emailed to the government office every hour. We badly outclassed the competition in every way, including cost, and lost the bid. I was really impressed with the guy in New Zealand. We hired him six months later.
