Shreyaawashere it is actually neutral accent without the interference of ones native tongue.. not many Indians can speak with such quality. Indians are speaking English from Victorian era, in those days RP English was popularised around the world such speech is technically called true English unlike today everything is Americanised ... American is not actual English. One must know it. We must follow the early way of speaking it is much elegant and with class. It is also known as Queen's English.

@ Goofy Chai Lover girl - I am from India. The ones who set up schools and colleges and who educated us were the Catholic missionaries from Ireland, Italy and not the Britishers . Many Miss Universe/ world were Convent educated Beauties, most of the eloquent politicians passed from the Jesuits Schools and Catholic missionaries Schools and colleges and many more whether in the Army or Paramilitary force.If not for the Catholic missionaries Schools and colleges, we would not be educated as we are now .We are indebted to the Catholic missionaries who came from Ireland, Spain,France and Italy who worked so hard and built many good schools and colleges .Just for your kind information ,I passed out from the then Irish run School and if not for them we would be living in the dark with no literacy at all.

Mithun Rts india is a very diverse country. There is no one accent to be honest. People still have accents like this. It is the western media that has stereotyped Indians with a cartoonish weird accent..just watch beauty pageants...Miss Universe, Miss World etc and listen to Miss India Contestants speak..you will be surprised. Indians didn't "lose" their accent. The people in north eastern india(mainly who studied in convent schools in cities like Kolkata, the hub of the britishers) still have this accent or a similar one, depending on their mother tongue(not everybody speaks hindi yk). Plus there isn't any "indian accent". Different people from different regions speak English differently, depending on the language they speak as well as the exposure they have to other native english speakers.
