Sarah J. Maas is an author I probably will not read. However, my wife is a huge fan and read ACOMOF 5 times. I even tweeted to Maas just to say thank you for making my wife so happy. I have seen your name floating around a lot connected with the whole diversity discussion happening lately. Let me be clear that I am not trying to call you out based on your views towards the topic but, I would like to know your thoughts on the negative feedback Maas received based around that topic. I would love if this turned into a good discussion, thank you.

wow, your wife is dedicated! funnily enough, i've seen your name as well! personally, i think diversity is a VERY important topic in literature. i understand that sarah j maas's books do lack in that department, as many authors do. i think it's important to point this out, and challenge authors to do better. that being said, i don't think any authors deserve to be told to "choke" or "go die" just because their works of fiction are lacking in some respect. i go to a ton of book signings, i've met many authors, all of whom i've met are very genuine and good people despite not having the most diverse books. that's why i think it's good to bring up such an important point and speak out for more diversity, but wrong to attack an author personally,. i'm a supporter of being able to read diverse AND non-diverse book, but ONLY if you 1. are able to recognize the bad representation/lack of diversity and 2. continue to incorporate more divese books into your reading. so for example, with SJM, i read and enjoy her books, but i can clearly see the lack of diversity & some problematic characters, which i would never ignore just for the sake of the story. how do you feel on the issue?

I believe that diversity is very important but, diversity has a great deal of meanings depending on how you look at it. I look at diversity from an ideological stand point. Every book I read every film I watch every album I listen to is all based on do I like general message or not. However, sometimes what scares me is that when I have tried to be diverse in my tastes I have gotten a little backlash. I got a negative comment on one of my videos (took it down because it was very racist) about how I had no right to see the film Strait Outta Compton because I was white and didn't understand the true meaning of N.W.A.s music. Now I may not be black but, I understand what their messages were and why they were being sent but, just because I have a different skin color does not mean I can't listen to N.W.A. I want everyone to have a voice and I believe that everyone has a voice. I know for a fact that there are plenty of authors out there that write about various diverse groups...but, not all of them write YA sci-fi/fantasy which, is the main genre that seems to be getting attacked at the moment. (that's not their fault either) That's because everyone has the right to write whatever they want to write about regardless. I feel that if you keep an open mind and focus on the messages and the enjoyment factor and of course the uniqueness of the stories everything else will fall into place in time. I really hope that makes sense, I would be willing to continue this discussion as well.

Because his character started slowly degrading since HoF, in QoS his actions weren't anything like before he acted differently and also his storyline went to hell. Then he wasn't even in EoS. It looks like she has more important characters and stories to tell so she isn't giving that much attention to his character. Whatever it just seems to me that she does not like him very much is all.

This was such a great interview!!!!! 💕💕💕 Omg I'm so curious to know all of the secrets of hers hahahahaha like what the next two ACOTAR books will be and then the secret project she plans on writing after the Throne of Glass series! I'm so happy that she always plans on continuing writing more and more books and that they will all continue to be super long, I can't ever imagine being disappointed by one of her books! :) I'm soooo looking forward to EOS! It's coming in the mail tomorrow and I'm SO EXCITED! Her fan stories were so heartbreaking also :( GOSH even this interview gave me all the feels!!
