If a man persistently encouraged another man to spend eternity alone with him on an island, no other man would call that heterosexual. Le Stat clearly prefers the company of men to the company of women. Even if vampires cannot have sex, if I was a vampire, I would rather choose a woman as companion and hang out with vampire men only occasionally.

Kirsten was such a _beautiful_ little girl. When Claudia grows up into a woman in the body of a child, it’s SO believable. Claudia’s demeanor, the way she spoke and moved was so mature, it was spooky! And she was only 11! A remarkable actress, and still just as beautiful now at 37. Wow, time flies. This still is my favorite vampire film of all time.

In the book number 2 of Vampire Chronicles Lestat clearly states that he didn't want Louis to leave him and he does regret for breaking his promise to Marius, the ancient vampire, not to make a child vampire and allow someone to live their lives first but he was desperate to keep Louis close and besides he knew that if he didn't Claudia would die. I am not sure if it was a hunting parner he wanted. I think he wanted a partner in general. Lestat was afraid of loneliness. In the book he had his father by his side first, treating him the best he could but his human father was dying and he didn't want to be alone again.

What I really love about this movie(Though I haven't read the book)is that even though it's about vampires, It's a painfully human story, and it feels very genuine. It does pretty vampires up in terms of appearance(Which can be a distracting element for me, even though a lot of folklore depicts vampires as attractive) but the characters are thought provoking, intelligent and tragically human.

If you like movies where you get to know the vampire so to speak, I would check out "Dance of the Damned" or the remake "To sleep with a vampire". It's about a vampire who picks up a suicidal stripper as his next victim but spends the night trying to learn more about being human. Both the original and remake were "b-rated" horror films so low budget and there is a fair amount of nudity since the character is a stripper but little blood shed and it's not a gory film. I found them interesting as its more about learning about the characters and not a huge storyline (it could have almost been a play actually since most of the story is them talking to each other). You can find them online to watch for free (just not on youtube). Again, they don't have the budget of this film but they are interesting to watch if you like to see movies where you get to know the vampire (if you are only going to watch one, I recommend the original Dance of the Dammned)

I think that was part of the point of the film. That immortality is more of a curse than it is a gift and a blessing. I feel like the movie ''Highlander'' presented immortality as being more of a burden and a curse, too(even the movie ''The Wolverine'' with Hugh Jackman had a similar take on what it would be like to be immortal as Logan/Wolverine was practically immortal). But as Playgulpanthress said, it also depends on the person. Immortality obviously isn't a burden for Lestat-he seems to be quite enjoying himself. And anyone who has seen the movie Highlander knows that Clancy Brown's character, ''The Kurgan'' more enjoys being immortal than he does resenting it(but The Kurgan is also out of his mind, evil and villainous like Lestat but not as sophisticated and intellectual as him).

Great clip. Second only to the original and Bram Stokers. I loved the sensuous scenes with Wynona Ryder in that movie. Kirsten (Claudia) showed her talent for acting at an early age in this one. Man... A movie based on The Vampire Lestat would be so amazing. If you've read the book, it's understandable that it would have been one of Tom Cruise's best movies. The wolf hunting, the acting scenes, the part where he turns his mom into a vampire... Too bad The Queen of the Damned was mediocre at best.
