I went to see Interview With the Vampire at the movie theater when it was released and everyone cheered at the end where I was also. The theater was packed- there was not one empty seat.

Loved the film, even bigger fan of the books so far (about midway through The Vampire Lestat) and the tv show is by far my favorite. Sam Reid and Jacob Anderson do such an excellent job portraying Lestat and Louis, and while the film is one of my favorites, I actually prefer their performance

I like both. Neither follow the books exactly. I do like the 94' movie. The series will grow on you. Sam Reid won many hearts. His French is fantastic, too. Definitely not for children as there's a lot of mature situations.

the series is 1000x better than the movie, although it doesn't follow the book as closely. tom cruise doesn't hold a candle to sam reid. the settings are also more fleshed out and feel real in comparison to the movie's.

I read the book when I was 15 or 16 in 1985. I was so excited to see the movie in 1994. I love Anne's novels,she's such a creative and detailed writer. I haven't watched the show on AMC but now I'm tempted. I just love the original so much!❤

Like I said, I'm such a fan of the movie, especially Tom Cruise's performance as Lestat, that Idk if I want to watch another version. I know that Anne and her son were a big part of what they did and didn't want in the series on AMC. I should give it a chance, I know a lot of ppl really liked the series. I actually don't have AMC but if I can find somewhere to watch it I will.

@@Minlaroo I haven’t read the books, but I watched the movie as a kid about 18 years ago and have been obsessed with it since. The show and movie are different and I can’t really compare them. The show is much more seductive, focused on storytelling, atmosphere and journeys. Each character is built with multitudes that had me think about them each week until the next episode airs. If you ever do end up watching it, I’d still love to know what you think! :)

I thought the acting was miles ahead of the movie. Sam Reid who plays Lestat was born for this role in my opinion. Louis and Claudia are exceptional actors as well. It IS very different though!

I was a and rice fanatic when I was in high school loved and rice was definitely a slightly Gothic but also a little hippie is as well if you want to put me into a category I don't know but at the same time very feminine I didn't wear black lipstick but I did color my hair dark deep burgundy and that was very taboo in the 90s

I didn’t know what to expect regarding the tv series, but man…it is superior to the film and I LOVE THE FILM! Sam Reid is so extra that Cruise pales in comparison. They change up the timeline a bit, but Jacob Anderson as Louis is so solid and Sam Reid as Lestat is very book accurate. Daniel is older as they look back to their original interview while set in our time. Season two is even better! Ben Daniels as Santiago is pitch perfect. I think you’ll love the series. Oh…the two Claudia actresses are amazing.

I never really liked this film, But I watched it because that was all we had from Anne Rice in film form of The vampire Chronicles back then. I had read the books before I saw it, and was disappointed in the process. Such is usually the case in the translation from print to film, unfortunately. The series is a lot better, in my opinion.

I watched this movie for the first time in my freshmen year of college. I think I love this movie so much because it perfectly captures the struggle of trying to find people who get you. College gives you way more freedom to explore who you want to be, but you don’t always find people who understand you, you begin to feel alone, but when you least expect it you find people like yourself and make connections that will last a lifetime. This movie is not my favorite movie of all time, but it will always hold a special place in my heart for being a piece of media that changed my outlook on life, however slight that change may have been.

Don't watch the AMC show, it craps on Anne Rice's work. There is a reason why it was done after she passed away. It's as disrespectful to Rice's lore as Rings Of Power is to Tolkien or Acolyte to Luca's work. The only definitive work that respects her book is the 1994 movie, for which Rice actually wrote the script and gave her seal of approval. The rest is garbage.

Anne Rice and her son were working on it with the writers before she passed. It said so on the Anne Rice website. Her son took over with it after she passed.
