Lestat didn't come to Paris to put them on trial. He came to Paris knowing that Claudia and Louis will be charged for murder and eventually killed, so he came to try to save them. Despite their diffucult relations, they were his family, he loved them! He was forced to be there and take part in that charade by Armand. He saved Louis, but didn't save Claudia because he didn't have enough strength to save both, he was literally bleeding from his ear when he saved Louis and the room was full of vampires ready to mind-f*c-k everyone. Basically he was put into situation were he was forced to choose whom to save, his body still didn't recover fully and his powers had limits. The fact that he didn't save Claudia will haunt him for the rest of his life, and the scene in New Orleans just proves it.

Both scenes almost brought tears to my eyes. Truly felt the pain and love for Claudia. This was actually my favourite performance from the “new” Claudia, even though her English accent popped out multiple times, her acting, defiance and nuance was immense!

Yea… because the anger, vitriol, and overall disbelief of Armand not being able to save them all was correctly placed. You are the oldest vampire in there. Even if Santiago was strong he was stronger. And besides that that was his coven! He could have stopped it if he truly wanted. But making the one who saved Louis Lestat… him not being able to save Claudia…. This actually makes sense. He is strong, but not as strong as he will become. Plus all the stuff Armand probably did to him in the events leading up to the trial… this makes the most sense as to why Claudia was not saved. I’m still so confused as to why Armand allowed the second interview in the first place. ESPECIALLY after the events of Season 2 ep. 5. What exactly was Louis hoping to get out of the interview. Did Louis already suspect Armand on some level that’s why the second interview took place? And why didn’t Armand sense that Daniel was working with the Talemasca earlier? On some level did Armand want this relationship to end? Is that why he was willfully ignorant??? I need season 3, 4, 5, and 6 like now. AMC DO NOT FOCUS ON ANY OTHER SHOW, JUST PRODUCE THE SHIT OUT OF THIS ONE!!!!

Regarding Lestat, he wasn’t as terrible as we saw up to present day. . The Lestat memories were NOT how things happened. . Remember EVERYTHING Louis recalled about things Lestat did was warped and manipulated by Armand. . He made Louis hate Lestat and made him into more of a villain than he is. Current day Lestat is the FIRST time we are meeting REAL Lestat. And notice how different he is than the Lestat that Louis remembered. Lestat loved Claudia. . He carries his grief and regret in his mind and will for the rest of his days. Jacob even said Lestat wanted to save Claudia but he couldn’t if he wanted to save Louis. . But he WANTED to. Also I think season 3 will be Louis interviewing Lestat so he can regain his lost memories and learn Lestats origins. Then Louis will give Daniel the interview at the end of season 3 and Daniel will write a memoir titled“The Vampire Lestat” ♥️

Akasha is Queen of the Damned ( all vampires) the most powerful , God like creature, her and husband Enkil 😮 We found out about Rashid and the Talamasca when he and Daniel went to lunch ( I think episode 6) and Ragland came in told Daniel not to worry about Rashid, then Rashid came in and stood behind Daniel and Ragland and told Daniel " if he wanted to be safe he should have ignored Louis ' letter and not come to Dubai " 😊 Lestat came because he built the Theatre and had already list Nicolas there, so everyone he loved would perish in a something he created. Armand and the coven were doing something to Lestat but if he could have he would have saved Claudia but he had to chose and he used all he had for Louis. But Claudia will haunt them both forever. 😢

It was on Lestat, everybody in the room knew that, but Louis didn’t want Lestat to carry the burden of that alone, because he was just as responsible. Listen I get being mad at Lestat, and he will never be absolved for Claudia, and he knows it, he doesn’t forgive himself and he never will, and he’s not asking for it. That doesn’t mean Louis can’t offer him an ounce of grace, whether he deserves it or not. And also, maybe Louis was saying that for himself as well, since he can’t forgive himself for Claudia either. These are two fathers grieving the loss of their daughter, in spite of their own shortcomings.

@@StormTheeOmega I the books - At this time in the story Louis does have some remnants of a Akasha’s blood in him via the Lestat from the first time Lestst met her. Louis was an outcast and in hiding after he spilled all the tea he had the book. Show Louis is not in hiding, but I’m sure he’s going to have some help if the others attack. It’s not a spoiler at this point to say Lestst would not let anyone kill Louis. I will say Louis was only weak because he didn’t properly eat and he tried so hard to hold on to his humanity. He really isn’t a weak vampire. There are witches and vampires, but no hybrid. I believe the show was planning to do a crossover between IWTV and MW, so don’t want to spoil anything that could possibly happen.

Spoilers: Akasha along with Enkil are the king and queen of all the vampires. They are the very first. Also, Rashid being with the Talamasca is confirmed when he takes Daniel to meet with one of the Heads of the Talamasca and then later lies to Armand about where they went and whether they spoke to anyone. It was a quick thing but it does reveal that he's in with the Talamasca.

I agree! I think Louis was already suspecting Armand’s role in this and that was the whole point of him doing the interview. It was just a cover for Armand but the fact that Louis burned Daniel’s computer shows that it wasn’t about getting a book published. He just needed help to get the details right.

They are going to let you know the whole tale in Season 3 when Lestat tells us his life story based on the Vampire Lestat book. Akasha, not previously mentioned on the show, is the mother of all vampires. Her blood is extremely powerful and it was believed that if you kill her, you kill all vampires. It's a longish complicated story, but show runners have hinted that they will combine parts of The Vampire Lestat with The Queen of the Damned, so we'll see.

I was watching another channel and the reviewer clocked that Armand wasn’t bleeding from his ears when he “glamoured” a theatre full of spectators. In season 1, Lestat bled from his ears and almost passed out from “glamouring” the soldiers. I was thinking that it was because Armand was older, but… nope lol. Also, during the Kangaroo trial, Lestat does ask to be condemned and constantly goes off script. He tried his best.

Chile this episode put me through it! My lord! Armand being the orchestrater ain’t surprised me, but the letting Louis die part did, because then what was the point of this if not to have Louis for himself?? I guess that’s a question for the future. I’m so happy for Louis man, I’m glad he got to fully grieve Claudia with someone who fully understands and that’s Lestat. I really liked that scene. But once again I have so many more questions than answers about his role in all this as well. I’m glad Louis got out and is single and living his best life. That little shrine to Paul and Claudia at the end made me shed a tear. Excited for s3, and as long as Louis is still a main character and isn’t sidelined imma tune in cause there are still so many unanswered questions. S2 was absolutely phenomenal

Lestat came back because he wanted to save them if he could. In the new behind the scenes, Sam (Sam Reid) says Lestat had to get the lay of the land mentally of the audience (which was partly why he goes into the audience so much). Remember Lestat told Claudia and Louis, the Vampires in Europe are vicious. He had to play along because he couldn’t defeat all of them. He could only save one, and it was Louis, in part because he knew Claudia couldn’t survive alone. He regretted not being able to save Claudia (see reconciliation scene). As we will probably see next season, Lestat and Armand’s relationship is very contentious.

@@Zuvuyapoet Lestat doesn’t actually kill innocents, he kills evil doers but Louis doesn’t know that at time when he’s telling his story to Daniel in the IWTV book. We don’t know if that’s the case in the show since everything is being told from Louis’ POV along with help from Armand, and it’s still something that neither of them would know. Just wanted to add - He does go through a period where he is lost and believes he is evil. I’m sure the show will put their spin on it and explore all of that. There’s still so much more to come.

Great review but when you re-watch it remember that Lestat is still weak and damaged from his "murder." Once Claudia & Louis met the coven - Claudia was doomed to die. Lestat knew that, that's why he still came to Paris, even in his weakened state. He only had the strength to save one of them and he chose Louis over Claudia, but his grief & loss were real. The reunion scene is the first time we see "actual" Lestat. Everything else we're shown about him is from else's memory or skewed perspective. Now the Talamasca knew how dangerous Louis was because of Lestat being his maker. Louis is much more powerful then even he realized because he was running from his vampiric nature. But when he was crazy and hellbent on revenge - he was a force to be reckoned with. It also took Claudia a much longer time to die from the sunlight because she too carried the blood of Akasha from Lestat. Akasha is the Queen and the first of all vampires. She's also over 6,000 years old. In the book "The Vampire Lestat," Lestat becomes a rock star singing about being a vampire in order to draw fire from the vamps going after Louis. So even though they don't resume their romantic relationship, the love is true and they always come to protect each other. (Although they are endgame) Lestat & Daniel both work to protect Louis until things flip when Akasha awakens. Something to think about - Armand said he preserved Louis happiness. Daniel made Louis happy. Maybe his turning Daniel wasn't fully out of spite. Perhaps it was as apology gift to Louis. Perhaps it's because Armand finally found someone who could best him & hold his own against him. And by being his maker - he would always have someone he couldn't read and would therefore be a match for his own mind. Or perhaps Daniel wanted the gift. We'll see in season three, perhaps?

They're modeling S3 after Hedwig and the Angry Inch which means Louie is going to be the subject this time(there's going to be whole rock musical ballads about him), he's going to be there but we're seeing a different side of Louie, how Lestat sees him and the trial shows clips of that Louie, the fuck boy manipulator who is cool and emotionally distant, a big contrast to how Louie see's himself, so we'll get Louie but not the Louie we know I also think we're getting more Claudia flashbacks too, so Delainey may be back in S3

Only problem with that is that the fledglings get weaker with each new one. So Lestat's most powerful fledgling pre-Queen of the Damned is Gabrielle (his mother). Then he made Nicky. Now, Lestat did go get that good Akasha and Marrius blood right before he made Louis...but Louis was not a powerhouse vampire until the end of Merrick after Lestat is changed by Akasha and makes Louie take blood from him again

Queen of the Damned movie was not a good representation of the book, but some details are true, so if you dont want to read, its a good bet. Lestat becomes the lead vocalist in a rock band and basically takes the next step in outing vampires. Eventually he becomes prince Lestat, though technically a king. 😊

I believe the only time we see the real Lestat from the two seasons is this last scene and he is very different from the description made by Louis throughout the 2 seasons. In this scene Louis admits he wants to make Lestat suffer because he is suffering (being a vampire). The whole two seasons were based on Louis pov 😮hating Lestat so how can we believe that he did not exaggerate on the behaviour of Lestat. He did trash Lestat in the first interview in the 70 (episode 5) but in the same time he cannot forget Lestat. Here after discovering the truth about the role of Armand and finally accepting his nature, he come to thank you Lestat and to forgive whatever really happens between them. The behaviour of Louis in this last scene (objective and not a pov) towards Lestat is completely different from the beginning of the interview. Facts are here: Lestat warmed him not to turn a kid (Louis admits it in episode 7 and in the last scene), that the European vampires are vicious (see what happens). Lestat always hide his power ( Akasha blood) to avoid Louis to feel uncomfortable (contrary to Armand). The real Lestat ( as shown here) cares for Louis (also when he was called by Armand in episode 5), suffers not be able to save Claudia. Why was he at the trial, this will be clearly explained in season 3 I believe. They will need time to understand each other , accept each other to be finally together but it will take few seasons because they will be very very busy with what is coming.

I was surprised in a way about Armand but he said earlier in the second season the coven was all he knew. He was insecure, and having all kinds of mixed emotions. I guess in a sick sense if he couldn't have Louie no one else could.

This show was wonderful. They kept outdoing themselves! I haven't read the books, but I heard that Lestat becomes a rock star to get Louis' attention. In the Queen of the Damned movie, other vampires didn't like that Lestat openly claimed to be a vampire even if humans didn't take it seriously. Becoming a rockstar in this adaptation might be a way for him to draw attention to himself so other vampires won't go after Louis. An act of love and protection

The coffin was filled with rocks/peebles that restricted the entombed vampire’s movement. Even if the banished vampire is able to heal (without access to blood no less), the peebles will be entrapped inside their healing parts. Also, being weaned of blood kills vampires, from what Armand said.

I don't think you have to worry about Louie been out of the show. The vampires are also going to be pissed at Lestat. So I think they're joining this Louis' story arc in the show with Lestat's arc in the books.

The vampires community is pissed off at Louis over the book and for killing the Paris coven. Lestat writes his book TVL to clear the air with Louis, and he became a rockstar on tour to take the heat off Louis , so the others will target him instead. That’s book canon. Louis challenged the other vampires in the show, so I can’t wait to see how this is going to go down next season.
