Thank you for this great interview! So nice to hear Victor’s memories of his career. I always remember a US Nats fluff piece about a US pairs team who went down on a lift at a competition in Russia. (I think they were pretty low ranking and I can’t recall their names.) There was blood coming out of her ears and it was obviously very scary. Victor was one of the few people who spoke English, and they saw him as the ambulance was taking her out and asked him for help. The hospital sounded horrific (filled with roaches!) and Victor came with clean medical equipment and linens etc. for them from his own supply that he kept in case of injury. That must be over 30 years ago now, but I always remember how kind he was.

I remembered that too and I was so happy to hear how helpful and generous he was to the injured American skater. I think the American people including myself fell in love with Victor. I pray that he will continue to be a great example not only to the skating fans and community but also to the world. Thank you Victor for sharing your talents and your big heart to all of us. I am one of your big fan since I started watching all your competition including the 1988 Olympic when you got Bronze in Calgary and Gold in 1992 Olympic at Albertville. I still watch your old competition videos in KZbin.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I remember watching the story about Victor’s kindness and generosity to the injured American Skater Katie Wood in 1990 when she suffered a head injury during a show in Odessa. According to the story, Victor brought the much needed medical supplies to the hospital from his own personal home pharmacy. I been a big fan since I saw Victor’s European Championship, 1988 Olympic in Calgary were he won Bronze and 1992 Olympic in Albertville were he won Gold. I still re watched some of his old KZbin videos. Thank you Victor for sharing your talent and your big heart and generosity to all of us!!! May God Bless You and Keep you safe and healthy! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Great interview. Kinda nice that Christopher Bowman told both Brian Boitano in 1988 and Viktor Petrenko in 1992 that they had won Olympic gold medals.

I love Dave's way of asking questions and then being quiet and listening. It's so very much what is needed in this world. Perhaps you can do the interviews alone, Dave. :)

What a great interview! I loved watching him compete and it's so good that he seems such a lovely guy!. I have a great photo I captured at Birmingham in the UK. I saw him skate in person at another competition and he seemed to be able to cover the rink in about two or three glides which fits in with what he was saying about power. I also seem to recall that Richard Zander always scored really highly in the figures.

I don't think Dave or Jenny knew at this point that Oksana had sued him, his wife, Nina, and Galina. Victor was super uncomfortable when her name was brought up, but he tried to remain neutral. The lawsuit was deemed "frivolous" and "bizarre." I think Oksana's husband might be a gold digger.

I get the same vibes from Oksana's husband. BTW it seems like they knew and were trying to get some info out of Viktor
