Thanks DIY DAD for your video. We bought this same pool second hand last year and are just getting to put it up this year so we didn't get any instructions. From watching youe video it's going to be a breeze but I am going out today to buy sand and a ground cover because ours didn't come with one. I hope your family has a great summer!!

Michelle Bergey great thank you! Good luck on the setup! It’s a little tricky the first time around. Just make sure you put those little plastic pins in holding the poles together before you fill it with water, and get it positioned where you want it before it fills up. Water is HEAVY, it’s best to get it shuffled around and positioned with only a couple inches of water first before it fills up 😁. Hope you enjoy the pool! Check out some of my pool care videos as well if you’re new to balancing the water!

@@DIYDad1 okay I sure will. Its 93 degrees today so we are going to wait till it cools off a bit b4 we start raking out the sand. I bought 6 bags to start I wasn't sure how many we'd need.
@DIYDad14 жыл бұрын
Michelle Bergey yeah it really depends on how uneven the spot is you plan to put the pool and how much leveling you need to do. For me I had about a 4 inch difference from one end of the pool to the other so I had to dump a lot of sand at the low end and not much near the top end that’s adjacent to the garage wall since that area was higher. If you have like a 4 foot level or even a 2x4 put a level on top and try to get it as close as possible to level. Doesn’t need to be perfect, but just as long as there isn’t a huge difference so the water isn’t all pooling to one end or you could have a safety issue if the wall collapses. If your yard is already pretty flat you can use the sand just to even out the low spots and you should be good to go. So yeah I’d start with 6 bags and if you need more they are pretty cheap at least! If I remember correctly I think I went through about 15 bags.

Xander Doxanas that’s a great idea! The second year I set this thing up we didn’t have to use anything to slide the poles in this time around. I think between the vinyl stretching out the first time and whatever bit of dirt and sand got in there probably helped it all slide together easier the second time around. Either way, the setup was easier than when I made this video last year lol.

You can just throw a simple tarp under it to keep it clean if you're going to be taking it down every fall before winter but if you clear the area properly first there's really no need.
@christinen26454 жыл бұрын
Is that just a regular heavy duty tarp you placed over the sand?

Christine N not even that heavy duty. It came with the pool. If yours didn’t or if you need a new one I would just get a tarp that’s roughly the same size and just tuck the corners under so it’s more round to fit the shape. Just any old cheap tarp will do the trick.

Last year when I was helping my mom set up are pool for the summer all the gross stuff on the cover went into the pool and we had to clean and sanitize the whole entire inside. But she bought a net that will catch all the nasty so nothing gets inside the pool this year when we set it up
@DIYDad14 жыл бұрын
Oh that’s a great idea! I usually just scoop off the gunk with my hands or use a push broom to grab everything I can’t reach and it’s usually not too bad since there’s no trees over hanging out pool. But I can see it getting bad if there’s any trees nearby. I actually take mine down completely and store it for the winter in a large outdoor storage tote since we get a ton of snow and cold temps here. But even if you leave it up all winter you probably still need to sanitize and shock the pool at the start of the season just to sort of “reset” the water and make it nice again. Thanks for watching!

Hi there, thanks for the video, I have a question ... I want to get a 4.5 diameter prism but the area I have is 7x3.5 would I be able to squeeze/pull into that area you think ? How flexible is the frame
@DIYDad14 жыл бұрын
A K i would be very careful with that, I would make sure the area is at least an extra few inches of clearance on all sides just to allow room for the water to fill because once it’s full the bottom part of the pool liner tends to swell out just a bit as it fills up. Once assembled there is some flex but the poles are very ridgid, and if you apply too much pressure against the sides when it’s full like say wedges against the side of a building, you could cause a hazard and the potential for a wall to collapse in which could be very bad. Also remember you need space for the pump and pump hoses on one side. I’m afraid you have about a 1 foot too small of an area 😥. I’d rather be on the safe side just in case. Anyway I hope that helps! Hope you can find another area to site the pool!

@DIYDad13 жыл бұрын
They are both good. The 30 inch deep would probably be perfect for little ones. I didn’t quite fill this one all the way up I’m filling it just above the filter intake so it’s about 6-8 inches lower than full which puts me at about 36” I would say and my 4 year old can stand on the bottom with this one no problem. Honestly they are both good. The bigger the better I guess lol. Just takes up more space and more water that’s all. It’s personal preference.

I found the ladder easy to put together. Maybe you could read the instructions better. And with your T brackets, did they not come with plastic pins to stabilise the round poles to the T brackets???
@DIYDad13 жыл бұрын
Yes I didn’t show that clearly in the video but take a look at my pinned comment with the updated video that shows how to install the plastic retaining pins. I ended up doing that first after I put the poles together. It was a lot easier than waiting to do it later. The only trouble I really had with the ladder was lining up the holes with the bolts properly doing it with one hand while holding a camera 🤣. The little plastic nuts didn’t thread the best but other than that it was fine. The pool and frame and everything has held up for 3 seasons now that I’ve take it down and set it up. Thanks for commenting!
@lizliz4rd4 жыл бұрын
I have a question, is it imperative that the floor is leveled? Swing bc my backyard is on a slant and I can't fix it like you. It's not grass it's a brick floors and in an apartment I don't own. Will I damage the pool if I install it like this???
@DIYDad14 жыл бұрын
lizliz4rd how much of a slant? If it is a very slight height difference you might be okay. If the water level is only 2 or 3 inches difference in height from one side to the other it’s probably ok. But be careful because if there is any more than just a couple inches difference of slant in either side it could be a safety concern. The weight of the water could be all on one side of the pool and it has the potential to collapse the wall. Not saying it will happen but there is always the possibility of failure that is why they tell you to set it up on flat ground. If the sidewall of the pool collapses someone could get hurt that’s my only warning. If it’s ever so slight you should be okay though just proceed at your own risk 🙂. And make sure the holes for the pump inlet are positioned at the lowest spot, it needs to be covered by water to function otherwise the pump will not work, so make sure the pool is turned around with the pump inlet at the lowest point. Another point yet. If it’s an apartment and you have limited space I would definitely not get a pool this big either without your landlord knowing lol. It’s several thousand gallons of water and you could be liable if the area is not fenced in potentially. If it is a smaller version of this pool like maybe the 32 inch deep by 8 foot pool you are probably ok but just be careful! Don’t want anyone to get hurt or in trouble is all!
@timadkins9033 жыл бұрын
How did you get the last bracket it
@DIYDad13 жыл бұрын
It was definitely tricky and a bit tight. But what I did was removed one of the horizontal bars from one side opposite of where the last bracket was, and I was able to insert the last one in at sort of a steep angle at like 45 degrees and lift up on the leg pole next to it at the same time and then with a bit of force it eventually all snapped into place. Then you can reassemble the other side that you loosened up. The first time you do it it’s kind of tricky but the second time I set it up it went much smoother. You might just have to jiggle adjacent poles and shuffle them over as far apart as they will go and with a couple extra millimeters is all it took. Oh and I may have not been clear in the video but make sure you insert those plastic retaining snaps in the top horizontal poles BEFORE filling it with water! Because once it’s more than like a foot deep with water it’s going to be impossible to move again once all that water weight is in there so make sure it’s all set and ready to go exactly where you want it and then fill it up. Hope that helps! Good luck!
@WaveProject3 жыл бұрын
I can’t fit the last t joint bar in. At least 7” longer. Ugh so frustrated
@DIYDad13 жыл бұрын
Woah that’s really way too long, normally it’s a tight fit but that seems like way too much overlap. One thing I would maybe try is disconnect one section on the opposite side to loosen it up. Go back around from pole to pole and make sure they are all seated fully, if there’s even 1/4” more that the pole can be inserted that can add up to a lot over the entire frame. I would go back through each pole and just make sure they are all snapped in completely. Then use those plastic retainer pins and snap those into the holes to secure it in place and that will ensure that they are all properly spaced apart since the little holes on the poles MUST line up in order to get the plastic snap to fit in. Once you get those plastic pins in, go back and secure the last two sections again and maybe try to insert the T at an angle and see if you can force it in. Might take a little bit of jiggling to get it to fit. I can tell you this much though, the second time I set this up it went a lot easier. In fact, I’ll be setting this pool up again the next couple of weeks here now that it’s finally starting to warm up around here so I might need to make a follow-up video again. Anyway, hope that helps! Let me know how it goes!

This video was very helpful! We just set ours up and filled a couple of inches to get the wrinkles out and now we have water puddling around one of the sides. Do you have this issue - hoping our brand new one doesn't have a leak :-(
@DIYDad14 жыл бұрын
sabrinacrawley uh oh, you have water puddling on the outside? How much are we talking like a huge puddle or just a little bit? I had water on the outside just from the condensation. Super cold ground water compared to very hot air temp and the outside of the pool wall became wet. But after a while it was totally fine. If you fill it a few inches and you see some water coming out you might have a leak. Hopefully not if it’s a new pool! Otherwise you may have to do a bit of searching to find the leak and patch it. It’s pretty common to get tiny pin hole leaks right along the seams. My last pool before this one had a few leaks and I just had to go to my local pool supply shop and pick up a vinyl repair kit. It included a few feet of vinyl that you cut to size, and some vinyl glue. It even works under water which was nice. Sometimes it can be difficult to find a leak. If you just see a little wetness it can be tough unless you can actually see a tiny bead of water forming. Poke around a bit and what I did was take a dry rag and wipe the wet area, wait a few second and keep looking at it and you should see another bead of water forming on the outside if it is leaking. It could be on the inside or the outside. Hopefully it’s in a spot that’s an easy fix!

One more question do you think I need a pad for the cement are just tarps?
@DIYDad14 жыл бұрын
mrstreyes I would just put down the tarp, the pool actually comes with one for ground cover. How long will it take
@DIYDad14 жыл бұрын
goat Escamilla takes about 2 hours to set up the first time, maybe less if you have an extra set of hands helping you. It’s definitely easier if you have two people. To fill the pool with water I think it took about 8 hours but that will vary a lot depending on how much water flow you have at your house.

DIY Dad oh thanks 🙏🏼 god bless you
@DIYDad14 жыл бұрын
goat Escamilla your welcome! Good luck with the setup! If you have questions just let me know! The trick is to make sure you have it positioned exactly how you want it before you start filling it with water. Once you add more than a couple inches of water it’s impossible to move without draining it again. 😁. Oh and those plastic pins that snap into the top rail to hold all the pieces together, make sure those go in right away after you get the rail set up. I forgot to do that in the video until later lol but it’s easier to do it first once it’s up. I tried to pop the pins in when it had water and you have to jiggle the rails and twist them in place to line up the holes so it’s easier when empty. Lessons learned 😄.

DIY Dad you don’t take it down for the winter. You just take off the pump and store it where it’s warm. Leave the pool up and leave the remaining water in for weight in the winter. These pools are only made to last around 7 years before they need replaced again but you are going to ruin it sooner taking it down all the time. Winter will not hurt it.

TPR_Shuttle yeah it definitely is hard to get in. Once all the other poles are in it’s a very tight fit. I just had to bend it back and kind of insert it at an angle and then pound it in place. It eventually went together but you’re right it was very difficult on the last one. Try taking apart the pole to the left or right of the last one and try to put them in together at the same time. That should loosen it up a bit and then you can shove it together all at once.

Can this pool go over cement
@DIYDad14 жыл бұрын
mrstreyes it can, as long as it’s a flat surface so just don’t put it on something like a sloped driveway for safety. I think the manual recommends just using a hard and durable surface. So bare compacted dirt would be perfect, grass is fine too just as long as it’s mowed short and all debris like sticks and grass clippings are removed. Rotting grass underneath a pool smells terrible just FYI lol found that out the first time this went up then we did the sand base. The only surface I would caution against would be gravel. You don’t want any sharp and jagged edges of rocks and stones poking holes through the vinyl.

Andrew Morel it can be tricky the first time since it’s a little tight but what I do is remove a section adjacent to the last pole you insert, and insert both poles into the last T section at about a 45 degree angle, so if you insert it at a sharp angle you kind of have to give it a good shove and it should pop into place with a bit of force. I noticed the following year when I put the pool up again this year it went was easier after everything was broken in a bit it was a lot smoother second time around. Casey Vandenberg ah okay yeah it all depends on your well, where you’re located, where the water table is at this time of year. A lot of people run irrigation off of wells and it isn’t such a huge problem. You could fill it part way up one day, then wait a couple days, and fill it the rest of the way but that’s for you to decide since I have no idea about you’re well 😁. It’s a little over 4,000 gallons. My sister is on a well and she has the same size pool and she filled it up on her well but she also has a very deep well since she’s on agricultural land.

Vickie Fordiani if I remember correctly the cover it comes with has a sort of tarp with a rope around the edge to cinch it down tight. There should be an adjustment on one end of the rope that you can pull out more of it to loosen up the cinch cord / rope around the edge. Should just slip over the railing. Hope that helps!

Just make sure you get the placement exactly how you want it before you fill it up otherwise it’s too heavy to move when it has more than an inch or two of water so keep that in mind. As long as it’s in a flat and stable place you shouldn’t have any problems. Oh and make sure those little plastic tabs go in first before it’s filled with water as well, in the video I waited to put them in later and they should have gone in once the top rail was all snapped together. They hold the top horizontal rail pieces together. Thanks for watching and commenting!

My front porch area is just cement bricks. I’m scared the pool might get pressure in the middle and widen.. since there’s no hold
@DIYDad14 жыл бұрын
Luxtaudios so the porch area with bricks is smaller than the pool is wide? The pool does sort of flatten out once it starts to fill with water, so definitely make sure the surface you are putting it in is flat and also just to be safe that it’s a few inches wider than where the feet of the poles rest. If one of the poles slips off the bricks and becomes unlevel then you could have a problem with the wall of the pool being unsafe. So just to be on the safe side make sure it’s as flat of a surface as possible. Brick probably isn’t the greatest surface but I would just make sure there’s no cracks between the bricks so the vinyl doesn’t get pinched in between the brick which could cause a tear. Hope that helps.

We've had a couple metal frame Intex pools over the 25 years (15X48 and now a 14x42). They've endured well, but we also built a pool house to keep them in. I just drain mine every fall and then I don't have to take it down as it is protected. I noticed there was something forgotten prior to filling the pool in this video. Anyone else notice? Make sure you follow instructions about the little plastic connectors with rubber gaskets on them (can't recall their name). They're kind of important to hold the top rail in place, even if they are bit of a pain to get in.

Yep I left those tabs out when we set this up for the first time a couple years ago then I went back and put them in after it was set up but you didn’t see that on camera the first time around. It made it much easier to insert the last pole without trouble as a lot of people seem to have had a lot of problems getting that last pole to fit. Now we just leave a couple of those plastic tabs out at the end and it goes smoothly. We are on the third season with this pool now and it’s held up just fine. No leaks yet! We store it away in a giant plastic container outside under the overhang behind the garage. Thanks for watching!

@diy dad how many bags of sand did you use?
@DIYDad14 жыл бұрын
Yayo Cartier if I remember correctly it was about 15 bags. 1 bag should cover about 1 square foot. It all depends on how much leveling you need to do. If your lawn is mostly flat it shouldn’t require hardly any sand to flatten it out. If it’s really bumpy and uneven like mine was you might need more. But I would say if you need to raise the level up an inch on one side I’d start with 1 bag per square foot and see how far you get. It could be more, it could be less. Just depends on where you put it really and how far uneven it is. It’s tough to estimate to be honest I just eye balled it lol. I believe each bag is about 1/2 a cubic foot if that helps.

What kind of sand did u use an how many bags
@DIYDad15 жыл бұрын
It was just playground sand because it was the cheapest at the time, but I'd recommend going with a construction sand or any course grain sand since it works better for leveling. I got about 15 bags, but the amount you would need will vary depending on how uneven your ground is where you select to set up the pool. I wasnt going for any particular depth, but I just needed to raise the far end about 2 inches up to match the highest part. I'd say anywhere from 15-30 bags depending on your situation. You could also get some 1 inch high paver bricks to support the poles, that way they dont sink in and settle if you really want to do it properly. Thanks for commenting!
@myuploadsvideos4 жыл бұрын
@@DIYDad1 if I put pavers on the leg I have to dig and make them level to the floor or just level the floor and then just seat the legs on top of the pavers?
@DIYDad14 жыл бұрын
William M I wouldn’t bother digging the pavers down. Just give them a few taps with a rubber mallet to set them in the dirt so it compacts the ground there. Then you should be ok I think! As long as you get them all placed before filling it up. Keep in mind as the pool fills up the first few inches the vinyl liner will shift around a little bit so you might need to go back out after a couple hours of water filling to check and shuffle things around a little bit while the water level is still low. Once it gets above about 6 inches to a foot deep it’s almost impossible to move stuff because water weighs so much. So just do a spot check as it’s filling a couple of times and make sure you’re still good.

With a second pair of hands you can do it this way. I think when I set it up this spring again I’ll probably do it the other way since I learned a few lessons from last year since it was the first time setting this one up. Our old pool was a summer waves external frame pool. Similar design but a little bit different setup. So I sort of set this one up how I remember from the old one. @DIYDad14 жыл бұрын
Andrea Coones the sand shouldn’t be too much of a problem as long as you aren’t using like several inches of it. I think the idea in the instructions is to not set this pool up on a beach or anything like that lol. The ground should be firm and have a solid base. So if you are doing it in a back yard on the native soil and the ground has settled it should be just fine to use an inch or two of sand just to get the grading level and flat. I think I used about 15 bags of sand over the 15 foot diameter. It wasn’t a lot of sand just enough to level the bumps. Just make sure you aren’t on a slope or anything like a sloped driveway and you should be safe. If too much of the water is to one side of the pool instead of even it could collapse the wall of the water level is off by a lot. An inch or two isn’t a big deal just try to get it as flat as possible. Hope that helps let me know if you have questions!

I cant emphasize enough to people in the northeast and even Northern midwestern, it will NOT be this easy to put up a pool. There aren't alot of level 15 or 18 foot diameter areas around here. The ground must be level and that could include many hours of shoveling or backhoe rental to move dirt. Then there's the rocks. If you're lucky you wont find 1 that's too big to move but probably not. I had to pull 2 out with a pickup and cables. Then you need 2 yards of sand delivered to level on top of area so rocks wont peirce liner. Took us week to get our 15 foot pool up due to ground prep. I see so many videos where they pop the pool up in an hour and are filling it. Lol not the case in New England.

Yeah then there the issue of using well water. Cheaper at first but we had to filter the water for high iron and mineral content for a week too. 3 Tube socks on the hose from house and on the outflow hose from filter. Hi, I am looking at purchasing this pool - please can you do me a big favour and tell me the diameter of the pool to the outmost outside edge ( i.e. including the steel poles etc). I need this measurement to determine if it will fit where I want to put it. Im worried that the 15ft measurement is inside edge to inside edge. thanks in advance to anyone who gives me this measurement.
@DIYDad15 жыл бұрын
Russell the way that the posts sit with this pool it is relatively perpendicular with a slight cant outward depending on if you set this up on a softer surface or not. The plastic feet on the bottom of the poles add about 2 inches to each side so I would estimate this pool to be 15’5” or so max diameter +\- 2 inches or so. It does expand a bit as it fills up so keep that in mind. If it’s a concern that it might be too big for your space Intex also makes a 14 foot version of the round pool as well. I put it away for the winter already so I’m unable to get an exact measurement for you but I hope that helps. Also, you need to account for pump space as well so the hoses will stick out one side by a bit.
@russell24965 жыл бұрын
@@DIYDad1 thanks for the quick reply - I have a 15'6" circle that I guessed the size of and prepared while waiting for the pool so your reply of 15'5" gives me some releif that its just going to fit the lansdscaped area which has garden edging around it so I can run the weedeater along the edging without hitting the legs or pool. I will put a plastic box over the pump and that can sit outside of the edged circle. thanks again
@DIYDad15 жыл бұрын
Russell no problem, hope it works out well for you! Quick tip. Make sure you have this thing placed exactly where you want it and rotated around where you want the pump situated. Once it fills up past about 6 inches of water you aren’t moving it until it’s empty again! Water is crazy heavy lol. The good news is that you can still shuffle the legs around a bit as it’s filling in the first foot or two deep, so as it fills the legs might shift just give them a little kick and a shake to get them into place again. So you can sort of “toe” them in slightly if you need to. It has a bit of wiggle room before it’s about 1/4 full at least so just keep an eye on it and you should be good I think!

Actually you’re totally right this isn’t anywhere near the house but thanks for the concern! This is just a simple concrete foundation on my garage that you see behind the pool, so no worries about flooding the garage since it’s just a concrete floor and has good drainage away from the foundation. I’m guessing this is so you aren’t using sand so the ground stays more firm? It’s leveled out after a couple of years now and firmed up quite a bit. We use sand to level low spots in the lawn where mowers scalp too low and it really helps in that regard. But that’s a good point but at the same time I didn’t want to dig too low either because then I’d have a reverse slope going towards the foundation of the garage which could also cause a problem with water pooling in the yard. So I see pros and cons to each way. I think you’re right though to caution using too much sand anything more than an inch or two can cause the ground to be too soft and you lose rigidity with the frame. Thanks for the comment.
