I had this same pool in a smaller version for 5 seasons and wanted to upgrade to the bigger pool this year. Imagine my surprise when I saw that prices had quadrupled and I found out there was a chlorine shortage. I mean really?? I'm so disappointed. I'm not paying thousands for it so I'll just wait and stick with my small pool again this year. You did a great job! It looks fantastic.

My son bought a 18’ x 53” Intex above ground pool to install in the back yard of his nnew home. I was watching the Utube videos and came to the understanding that there might be a bit more to it than just planting the poles and filling it with water. So I started watching more U tube videos. Yours looks awesome. What would you say is the biggest problem to avoid. I was very tempted to pour a 18’to 19’ concrete pad to insure the pool is level. Your thoughts?
@EVERYDAYRC
@EVERYDAYRC Жыл бұрын
Hello Chris. Glad you found the video helpful. Obviously this pool is considered a semi permanent structure. I know people in nicer climates leave them up all year round but I’m not sure of the longevity. I live in the north east of the United States and this is the third season I have left mine up it will probably be the last. I winterize it for the winter and put a cover on top . I have had other Intex pools in the past. They are great for the price point, but there is definitely some preparation. The biggest issue is making sure the ground is level and secure. I have seen videos of people pouring concrete pads, which is obviously a good idea to keep it level but now you have a dedicated pad for the pool I have seen people take the pool down in the colder months and use the pad as a fire pit area. That’s a cool idea the second biggest most problematic thing is cleaning and vacuuming the pool. I have seen other people on KZbin install a professional style pump and skimmer. I was going to make a follow a video showing how I vacuum. I would say they are a good non-permanent investment, but I plan to move to a more professional style pool that has better pump and filtration.

@EVERYDAYRC
@EVERYDAYRC 3 ай бұрын
Hey Jennifer. It was taken down end of last summer. Held up well, but at the end of the day, it’s a semi permanent structure. I live on the north east of United States and we have harsh cold winters and after a few years, I didn’t feel comfortable having 8000 gallons sitting so close to my house and neighbors lol God forbid, I was able to work through some of the issues having these disposable “pools because there is not a good enough vacuum system to clean debris and I had to come up with a few ideas myself that unfortunately did not share through the years. At the end of the day, it’s a huge chemistry set and owning a pool is definitely a luxury and where I live, you can only enjoy it a few times a year so it has been taken down but it did serve us for the time it was up. I hope you have a great summer. Take care.

@@EVERYDAYRC Thank you so much for the reply. I’m also in the north east US and I can understand the whole semi permanent aspect for sure. I’ve had a more permanent one outside and can confirm the chemistry aspect lol. I’m glad to hear about the vacuum concern. Well, it’s a lot to think about and I thank you for your insight and the video.

@@EVERYDAYRC awesome! I love green giants! I bought 6 footers and they’ve been in for a month. I installed drip irrigation and put mulch around each tree to hold moisture. How many bags of gravel was needed to fill in between the pool and border?
@EVERYDAYRC
@EVERYDAYRC 2 жыл бұрын
At this point I can’t remember but you need to measure the depth and calculate the square footage you would need. According to the square footage of each bag that will calculate how many square footage you need to fill in the area that you have.

Now that you’ve had the pool for awhile, how’s it holding up? I’ve seen complaints of rust online
@EVERYDAYRC
@EVERYDAYRC 2 жыл бұрын
It’s held up pretty good. It’s standing currently right now during our cold winter season. It has snowed a few times. I have seen the issues with rust. I hear that they heard about the rust issues and tried to powder coat the inside of the framework. It is still a concern of mine I live on an island but I am not close to the water so I don’t have too much issues with rust but I believe that after this next summer season I will take the pool down. I feel that if you live in a year round Pleasant climate it should hold up well but definitely keep the rust in the back of your mind. I still don’t feel that these pool should be considered a permanent fixture but you can get a few years of leaving them up if you are diligent about them. When is spring time comes around and I’m getting a pool Up and running again I will share another video

Where did you buy it because the 18 x 52 pools are no longer sold on the Intex website. I have this exact size and unfortunately the poles are all rusted out as we have a salt water one. I’m looking to either replace all of the frame or buy a new one.

Hello how did you keep the pool bottom away from the pool feet? I want to use pavers but I have seen lots of problems that can occur
@EVERYDAYRC
@EVERYDAYRC 2 жыл бұрын
When you are setting the pool up for the first time space the pavers and the feet away from the pool. Start filling the pool and only put a few inches of water so that you can still move the legs without too much weight of the water. Once you have them placed out and the water in the bottom of the pool you will see how far the pool stretches out and therefore you can keep the feet and the pavers away from the bottom of the pool. If at any time during the season the bottom of the pool touches the pavers I have had to use a car jack with two by fours to actually jack up the pool to space out the legs which I do not suggest to do because it is very dangerous. If you plan properly and set it up you should not have any problems throughout the season
