How does it work with BOTB with regard to car options? Suppose I was gonna spec a car that cost 40k base price but I see that there'd be 15k of options I'd add to that. Then I win one of those cars through BOTB. Do I get a base 40k car delivered? Do I get to add extra options and pay the extra 15k for them or get them free? Something I've alwats wondered.

Hi 😊 BOTB pay for the car that’s listed on the website, most of which are the top of the range so will already come highly loaded with spec. If you wanted something specific then you’d have to pay the extra, which is why a lot of people also play for the £20k incase they want to add something.

I have never had any problems with the back seats of mine (im 6'2 and all my friends are atleast 6') but the boot is VERY small. you can fit 1 small suitcase and that's about it.

Yeah if one wants to own a Mini Hatch practicality should be the last thing they concern themselves with. There's other larger Minis in the range more suited to their needs anyway. Although I personally consider the Hatch to be the most beautiful and refined. The Countryman just doesn't look as nice IMHO. Still anyone worried about practically should just get a bigger car in the first place.

My Mini is the 2018 Cooper S - Went for the 7 speed dual clutch auto as I've bad ankles. Timed 0-60 at 6.4s on launch control. Awesome little car.

I’m an incredibly proud mini owner and I absolutely love my mini. Sticks to the ground, goes halfway around the world on a tank of fuel and looks gorgeous. Sorry five door, but the mini must be a 2/3 door or she doesn’t look like a mini. I wanted the union flag rear lights but my little Pepper didn’t have that option.

julie Wallis No it’s not. ‘One’ and ‘Cooper’ are different trims. A Mini Hatch is the actual model then you get it in different trims such as One, Cooper, Cooper S etc.

When the handbrake is off the arm rest will lower as far as sitting on top of the brake lever,so gives a bit more room to change gear without blocking your hand and wrist as much and raise up as you lift the brake lever,i mange to drive with it down all the time .

I'm 6ft tall. I can sit and fit perfectly fine in the back. And that's with the front seat in my driving position. Not for a long trip but it's nothing like the pre-2014 models.

Thank you. Great review. I currently have a 2003 cooper s. Love it and have had it sense new so 16 years and 215k on the clock. Thinking it may be time to maybe change it was thinking fiesta st but as the mini is nearly the same price and I do love mine maybe another 😁👍, or the works 😱❤️

I really enjoy driving them. Fun little cars that are easy to park, nippy and good driving position. How can you do a 12 minute review and not mention the ride quality??!! Mini's are known for having a harsh ride and it would useful to know how the model has progressed in that respect.

I have a 2019 JCW, the ride quality is still harsh, however very comfortable. I’m coming from a 2014 Roadster S and that was an insanely rough ride. In all honesty, I think they’ve improved significantly. Just know if you’re going to be hitting harsher roads, you might get tossed around a little

If you are a arm rest driver this is the very best car for you. If you want performance, keep fingers off this vehicle. Than the predessecor would be the right thing to you. John Cooper Works -R56 is the culture.

I have the 2019 Cooper S and my best return on last tank fill, shown under the speedo is 22.4 mpg. I f**** hate it, my wife loves it, says it’s great for “bombing “ about, whatever she is alluding to there I know not ha. She’s 72 yrs old and will never have an old farts car, even if she is ,like me. Your never too old for what you want, is my wife’s mantra

I drove one of this whilst my mini went for a service it was a little quicker than my mini one d but my mini was just as much fun and much better on fuel the mini cooper s drank fuel about 30 gallon very poor my mini does 60 gallon best in the world

The arm rest is adjustable up and down. It pivots down and that puts it in a lower position. I had the car for a few weeks before I realized that.

In the last few years, the car industry has decimated the compact car class to a devastating degree. If you're a buyer like I am, and you want a compact car, your choices are now horribly limited. The Mini now being not just one of the best, but one of the only choices left. Perfect example of what I mean: VW's current generation "Compact" Jetta. Look at it. In terms of size, it's a VW Mid-size Passat masquerading as a Jetta. If I wanted more room in the boot or a backseat that could comfortably carry adults for hours at a time, I'd buy another Mid-size sedan. Bought one years ago, personally; it was a mistake. I don't care if the backseat is not suitable for two large adults. It'll rarely see anyone's backside. The boot is plenty big enough for a breakdown bag, and my work-bag; without the rear seats folded flat. Some folks genuinely desire a compact car that doesn't take up unnecessary space in their lives, is easy to park, and has a bit of performance under the hood.

Driving modes is a must in the Sport. As far as I’m aware it changes the exhaust note because the engine map changes giving you a few more sounds on overrun, it also changes throttle response, suspension, and tightens up the electronic power steering.

I don’t get why everyone is saying that the new fuel gauge is better or even has more bars. It’s the same! 8 bars, just like before. The only difference is that the last one had 8 lights and the new one has 1 light in 8 sections. It’s the same!

I don't think ALL Minis get the sensors and camera. The Cooper classic hire car I have doesn't have them. But I do agree on the infotainment. It has taken me a while to get used to it. It can be a bit odd

Long term review : 2018 Mini Copper Countryman All 4 S Problems prior to 60,000 miles: Door Latches: All four door latches failed (at various intervals) requiring the doors to be tied down to the headrest until repaired. The passenger door latched failed twice. Service manager was unable to offer an explanation as to the cause. Research mini and BMW door latch failures. Battery Replacement: No indication/warning light given that the battery was getting low… It just stopped functioning. Replacing the battery requires removing support bars and engine compartment panels. Somewhat time consuming compared to most cars. Engine Coolant: almost all of the engine coolant evaporated causing the car to overheat. No warning light that coolant was low. Car had been serviced by Mini of Bedford two weeks prior and had been consistently serviced by the dealership. Decals: Decals around the headlights bubbled and needed to be replaced. Tires: Run flat fair weather tires needed to be replaced to allow for inclement/snow conditions. Service/Technicians: There are very few shops that work on Mini Coopers and most are as expensive as the dealer. Overall: The Mini Copper is not a reliable vehicle and owning one in North America is costly unless you have the time to perform the repairs yourself.

Sadly reversing camera isn’t standard, just sensors. Pretty sure the auto is 8 speed, or at least it is in the JCW.

@@BOTBreviews Nope, its a 7 speed DCT in all the F56 cars now, used to be an 8 speed torque converter in the JCW because it couldn't handle the torque, after the facelift it's all DCT, apart from the 2.0 diesel in the clubman/countryman

James Baggaley it all depends on the market. In North America, it’s still 6 speed for base and 8 at for s. backup camera is mandatory in us and Canada as well.

We believe that yes they can be changed out if you buy new, you might want to ask your Dealer if they would swap for the old style lights. If not place an ad to swap them on the Mini Forums 😊

I did own a 2016 Countryman S It was dead reliable for 4 years I owned it. Only real issue I had was the overpriced maintenance for an economy hatch! The fuel was great for around city and from my turbo 1.6L petrol, i got up to 44 mpg highways. Great for long trips :) If you do buy a MINI, just be knowledgeable on how to maintain a vehicle in general. A lot of people who purchase one, don’t maintain their vehicles and let them go to trash! Hence why there are so many claims they are unreliable. I drove mine to 110,000 km No issues at all! But i just didn’t have a proper job at the time to afford the crazy maintenance costs.
