Tali, is there nothing you can't cook? I love ❤️ raspberries. I bet a combination of the dumplings is scrumptious! 😋 My mom's best dishes were smothered porksteaks, not porkchops. So tender and yummy. Her gravy would set it off. Mom also made the best homemade yeast rolls. When we'd have church functions and family reunions, everybody wanted Perline's (mom) homemade yeast rolls. Mom could also make a mean 2 crust peach 🍑 cobbler. We had peach trees and cherry trees and plum trees and apple trees. There were even grape vines. My dad made us pick the fruits and then he would sell them to customers. I remember the delicious smell of cinnamon and nutmeg and the flaky crusts to die for, coming from her kitchen. She used nothing but Armour lard to make pie crusts. I sure miss her. She passed in 2018. Such wonderful memories with her. If she were still living she would be 81 years old. Tali, thank you for allowing me to share these memories with you and the other commenters/fans. Stay blessed and encouraged!! ❤❤🙏🏾😊

My granny made everything from scratch she raised a garden a hog and a calf and of course she had chickens she made her own soap that was used for everything it all depended on how she cut it up or what size she grated it up as for what it was used for , she lived by herself up until 8 months before she passed away and she was 96 , she made all our medicine for when we we get a cold a scrape what ever she had a remedy for it but my favorite thing she made was a coconut cake 3 layer and her breads and rolls, we never had a store bought blanket growing up because she quilted and that’s what went on our beds . She was my everything and I sure do miss her . I’m 70 years old and my memories of my granny play in my mind like a movie , thank you for sending me down memory lane this afternoon, it’s a happy day today and you’re berry dumplings look amazing !

My Grandma Whitfield was the best!! She made fried chicken in her cast iron skillet, homemade sauerkraut, mac and tomatoes, homemade desserts, etc!! She had a huge garden and canned all the time! Her Pineapple Custard topped with Cheddar cheese was soooo good!! My mom and dad were excellent cooks too! We had wild game, fish, veggies from the garden, Beach Plums, Pecans,, and Blackberries were grown as wel. All three of them cooked like this!! Miss them very much. Such great memories ❤❤❤❤❤

Thanks for this Talli. I am 75. My momma made the best fried chicken, chocolate fudge, and Biscuits and gravy. The fudge was a rare treat, but as far as us kids were concerned magnificent. She would drop the hot sugar in water and push it around with her finger until it was ready then blend in the rest and beat it with a wooden spoon for long time. It took a long time but so good. Our dumplings were big and fluffy.
@sandy-mr5gj

Yes I remember the fluffy dumplings too. So delish. A lost art it seems, but way easier than all that rolling and cutting and less mess. I make the old timey Hershey's fudge too. And biscuits and gravy at least once a week. We must be from same era.

Oh Talli Faye you have outdone yourself. I know what you mean about getting the right blend. It’s sort of like making pasta dough…sometimes it just comes out perfect. I always loved my mother’s Italian tomato sauce. She would make lasagna, stuffed shells, manicotti, cannelloni. She had a favorite “pudding” pan just like you do, Talli. So many things you do remind me of her. She tossed her dish towel over her shoulder too. Thank you. I guess I’ll be up late again 😂 Felicity

Your cooking is awesome!! Glad I ran across your channel. I'm from North Central Arkansas grew up here between Clinton and Damascus area. My grandma was well known from church to church to church for her chicken and dumplings. She would roll em out paper thin but they puffed up med thick when dropped in to cook and didn't fall apart. I've tasted one person my sister-in-law that made them close as for the flavor but hers fell apart but the taste was as close as I've had sense grandma died. I've been to Louisiana they said oh these chicken and dumplings are awesome. Well they didn't know what awesome was I was so disappointed lol. But Grandmas chicken and biscuit casserole was awesome and her fried pies were next in line. My granny my dad's mom was her homemade chocolate pies when I was a kid just really good. I'm one that if it's good it's good and if not it's just not no matter who cooks it. 😆 I'm gonna have to try your blackberries and dumplings I love blackberry cobbler so this will be right down my alley. Mmm. Mm. Have you had chocolate and biscuits? It's said it's an Arkansas thing for sure but everybody needs to try it if you haven't.

Thank you Talli Faye for sharing recipes…here in Minnesota we like blueberry crisps 😋or muffins or pies…me, blueberries straight in my mouth! 😉….What I remember growing up was mom taking left over foods that you wouldn’t think would be worth saving and making the best hot dishes or as you call casseroles! How she did it I still can’t figure out! But she’s still with us at the age of 90 & 1/2 and I’m her caregiver in her home…💕my cooking is a bit different but then back in the days money could be scarce and you made do until more would come in. Grandma (maternal) made the best German “garbage” as she called it with beef short ribs with sour kraut and the best fluffy dumplings ever! I have her recipe but it just doesn’t seem to be as good as grandma’s and granny (paternal) made the best fried chicken with corn on the cob! Good memories they leave us 💕

Hi Talli Faye 👋 you have made a masterpiece full of flavors and the memories. Oh my word. Your granny sure taught you well. I also love how you wear your daddy's watch. How precious. I lost both of my parents, two years apart, when I was in my twenties, but I still hold onto those memories. My three favorites from my mom were her raisin cake, goulash, and chicken and dumplins. Oh, and her homemade fudges, so I guess that's four, but everything she made really. I remember when I was young, my brother and sister-in-law took me to see Don Knotts in "The Apple Dumpling Gang" and when I got home, she had made a big ol pot of apples and dumplins. So good. I even have a favorite of my dad's, and that was his fruit salad. He always said no one could make it like he did, cause he stirred it with his finger for extra sweetness (joking he was). He always put extra maraschino cherries 🍒 in it cause he knew my sister-in-law was famous for picking them all out, lol. Thanks for a great video, a yummy dessert, and the best memories. Love ya, lady. You're the best! XO 🤗❤️💛❤️🤗

The things I remember most that my granny cooked was chicken and dumplings. They were the best. My boys (I had 4 kids and all of them were boys) would eat them up when she cooked them. To this day my boys still talk about her dumplings. That was my Granny Johnson. My Granny Quick would make tomato gravy that was to die for. They were just that good. She knew I loved them so anytime I would go over and visit her she would get up and start making peeling her tomatoes. She hated the tomato skin on anything so she would peel every tomato. Even if it as going on a sandwich. (RIP Granny Johnson and Granny Quick. I miss ya'll so much. ) As for my mom... It was here potato salad. Nobody makes that like my mom. Good memories friend.

My mamaw used to make her blackberry cobbler this way with the dumplings, but she would put a crust on the top after the dumplings cooked and then bake it to brown the crust. I never knew how she made the dumplings. Thank you for this video!!!

My mamaw would make these dumplins when we were growing up. She used fresh picked blackberries and sometimes she would make them with a quart of peaches she had canned. I loved them and this video brought back those memories. Thank you. ❤

I really love blueberry dumplings, pies, and cobblers. I do wish you would put your recipe in your description area of youtube. I can't wait to try this recipe. I just love your cooking so much, and it is so much like what I grew up with. Yes, I grew up with my family pronouncing things with an R. Yeller. There is no ice cream like a good homemade ice cream.

From one Texas gal to another Texas gal I have a strong accent myself 😂 My grandmother, who was my mothers mom she brought her family with her husband, who came in covered wagon to Wellington, Texas They were huge on having their own garden. They did at one time have their own livestock, but anytime you were at ma or pa you had to pick whatever you were assigned to do you, or you would not have supper My favorite of my grandmothers cobbler’s or jam is something I can’t find and I’ve been looking for it ever This little bitty Barry it was hard and it was very sour. It came from a thing called a safer plum tree, and I have not been able to locate it at all, but she would make the best jams and preserves, and she could use them for her cobblers, and they were the best have not tasted anything like that since Everything of my grandmothers was delicious because it was all fresh food, and she knew exactly how to make it the old, southern way a lot of people do not talk about okra or fried okra in my grandmothers times I didn’t put bad or on the okra. It was rolled in cornmeal, and then fried up and it was so much better than the fried okra today I enjoyed watching your video as all of your other ones. Have a blessed day.
