Every time a water ride was featured, I could seriously SMELL that blue/green-ish water! ^^ I don't mind getting a little wet during a day of walking around miles of asphalt in the hot sun (in principle) but it definitely made me avoid certain attractions. I don't wanna get soaked AND smell nasty... I'm a KC native and I've been to WoF only a handful of times, and overall I do like it, but it's just THAT ingrained on my memories of the park

Great review. I’ve been to many Cedar Fair parks and this one has the most “character.” Lots of wooded areas, quaint shopping nooks, funny restaurant names, and tons of “out of the way” areas to explore. I try to visit this one every year. Lots of history here.

That's probably because this was originally owned by the Hunt family in KC. It was specifically themed and Ceder Fair kept some of it after buying the park.

Joe, more than Knott’s Berry Farm in California?? I’ve personally never been to the park in Kansas City, but grew up going to Knotts berry farm and my family and I have had passes to Knott’s for the past few years. From what I can tell in the video, Knott’s looks like it has way more character than this place! I’m on a short-term stay here in KC and hope to visit Worlds of Fun. Have you ever visited Knott’s berry farm in California?

WOF is a great park! Zambezi Zinger was my favorite coaster as a kid, orient express was good too and much bigger faster and loops but there was just something about the Zinger.

Thank you for the tour. Hardly anyone does a tour of this park. I live about 90 miles south of WOF and OOF. I like to go quite a bit but i also try to go to Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO. But i have to say, WOF needs to let Timber Wolf go. Hurts your knees, hurts your sides, just very very shaky. Also, I wish they would do away with the Boomerang. Replacing the Zambezi Zinger for the Boomerang was a big mistake. Wish they would have put something else better there. I have been to WOF many many times and love going back when i can. The Oriend Express was my very first coaster i rode there. Its not there anymore sadly. Spinning dragons is a bore, wish they would put something else there instead. There used to be a ship where the sea dragon is. Also, the best place to watch the fireworks on the 4th of July is on the ferris wheel. Gotta time it right tho. Ive done it and just loved it. The chinese dragon statue was there when the Orient Express roller coaster was there. And the fountain at spinning dragons used to be from the dolphin show. I went to the dolphin show a few times. The Finnish Fling actually scares the crap out of me and I'm 36. I have rode it a handful of times but what is the scariest is when you ride it after u been soaked from Fury of the Nile. I think I'm going to slip to the bottom.

Timber Wolf is beautiful. The rough ride is a staple to its beginnings. It’s not for everyone, but it was the number one rated wooden rollercoaster in the world when it debuted. Long live the wolf 🐺

I absolutely love Worlds of Fun. My favorite coaster there is probably the Timber Wolf. People always complain that it is rough (especially in the huge helix) but now they complain that it is completely forceless now that GCI retracked it. I still find it forceful and I get plenty of airtime.

A lot of these rides are super old. My dad said he has memories of riding a few of them, such as the log plume and the timber wolf (which is suuuper rough, btw).

Worlds of fun is the absolute best. I’ve been there well over a hundred times with my grandpa, he took my brothers and I to the park 4 times a week for 5 summers, and it never gets old. The rides are fun and the park is great, no complaints from me.

At one time the ravine that the Viking Voyager is over used to be filled with water. The water came almost to the edges of the flume.

I don't know how much more history you've learned the park, but I'm born and raised in KCMO so it was basically my whole childhood lol. The panda is from when they kiddy area was called Pandemonium (this was before I was even born, but I've heard about this from my dad), after that I think it went to the Berenstain Bears but this is also only what I've heard from my dad. I grew up with Camp snoopy, which is now planet snoopy. When it was camp snoopy there was a snoopy and Woodstock raiding in a canoe on top of that waterfall/ fountain, but they changed it to the raft when it became planet snoopy.

Cyclone Sam's is the first ride I do when I get to WoF and it's the last one I ride before I leave. It's one of my favorite childhood memories. Thanks for the tour! I had no idea they updated the Scandinavian entrance. Kind of sad to see it's gone. Was a very neat entrance!

i think the panda sign for bamboozler is new, the viking voyager (log flume) is actually a really nice ride despite nothing really happening with the layout, and to my knowledge worlds of fun and the surrounding area for like a 10-15 mile radius sit on a network of limestone caves that were mined way back in the cities early days there are cave tours and a paintball arena over by the Ameristar casino which are really neat but due to the caves the ground may be unsteady and that may be a factor about why worlds of funs attractions are spread out and not using up alot of the land they own

Thank you for reviewing the park. It was the park my family visited every summer growing up and it was so nice to see it again and be reminded how cool it is. I enjoyed mamba, but to be honest Zambezi Zinger was nicer in many ways. Less “thrilling” but it ran through a lovely wooded section of the park and was just sort of unique. Timber Wolf was always a pretty Solid wooden coaster and I am glad to see it’s still around. I kind of remember the panda, but I don’t remember him being a walk about charecter

Very nice looking park and one that I'd now like to check out. I love smaller parks, especially ones with a lot of charm and a great collection of classic flat rides. On a side note, I've noticed a lot of early-season tour videos show parks with a lot of rides not open yet. I'm wondering if parks are having a hard time finding enough staff for the early season nowadays. I can't imagine many people can afford to only work weekends for two months.

Grew up in Kansas City. I would go to WOF all the time. Their Halloween season is amazing. Never really thought about how many great middle school memories I had getting scared there

Fury of the Nile was fun when I went sometime in the early 2000s. I remember it had two entrances and exits: one for Worlds of Fun and the other for Oceans of Fun. Both parks featured the same ride. It is especially good on a hot day cause you get water on you that cools you off. Back in the day, Worlds of Fun was a true THEME park, that really embraced the Around the World in 80 Days theme. Everywhere was some continent and the park maps looked like atlases that reinforced the theme. But I think they've toned it down.

I'm going to Cedar Point June 18 through July 3. I have 2 weeks off. I'm going to Cedar Point June 19 through June 23. Driving day Saturday 24. I'm also going to Kings Island for 3 days and Kentucky Kingdom for a day. On the way back to Minnesota should I do Worlds of Fun for 2 days and Adventureland for 1 Day? And yes that mascot was the old wof mascot back in the late 70s i think. They had The Shirt tales as their mascots before they had rainbow bright and characters in the early 80s. Don't quote me on all that but i remember when i went when i was 4 or 5 and they had the shirt tales.

Did they move this “Boomerang” from Knott’s in California, or has it always been in this park? I am from California, born and raised, and we used to have the exact same boomerang ride, only it was painted a turquoise-ish blue color; but it literally has the exact same layout and track! Can anyone from Kansas City let me know how long this ride has been here? Boomerang in Knott’s Berry Farm, California was shut down and removed in 2017. I’m just curious! Thanks! 😊

The gorilla at 8:15 is from the old Safari jeep ride. It was an original ride when the park opened, the jeeps took you through a safari, with animal themes and sounds. Legend has it, they shut the ride down due to sex and weed shenanigans inside the confines of the ride. It was my favorite when I was a little kid. Second best was the skyline, the cable cars that took you over the park and you could practice bombing patrons with ketchup packets.
