Nice video Chris. Jason didn’t tell you about having to work for the free wood. Apparently not much of a market for Ash saw logs. Like you I’m sure, hard to see the ash logs going to the chipper but no doubt that Jason knows his market and has to stay up with tree service logs coming into his yard. GNI
@InTheWoodyard4 күн бұрын
There is a market but it is flooded now.

Jason could use some lessons from your Ash guy on loading a trailer! That guy packs em full and none of the criss-cross half load trips!😂 The first few loads you got from, Jason. He was so gentle in setting the logs in and now he is dropping them from 3-4 feet above the trailer. The trailer will soon be all beat up, broken suspension components,or bent doors, from free loads.🙄 Your trailers are your money makers and the last thing you want is to be pulling into some neighborhood for a delivery, with a trailer that looks like it lost a demolition derby.

@InTheWoodyard4 күн бұрын
Just put an add on Craigs list or Facebook marketplace and deliver wood!
@BGWenterprises4 күн бұрын
Minimum of 8 foot for any log going to the mill, thus why a number of those logs are getting chipped. . Over 8" on scaler end, few limbs-all under 1.5" is generally a sort for a more valuable mill log. . They have us cut to an odd foot and pay us for the next even foot down. So a 37 foot log is scaled as a 36 If we mess up and send one in a fraction under 36' 10" they scale it as a 34' log. Just the way it is..
@InTheWoodyard4 күн бұрын
Thanks for the info!!
@obxkoastie81704 күн бұрын
Chris...Enjoy watching a pro work that grapple! Have you ever thought of making Jason an offer for all of the wood he is going to chip to instead deliver it to the woodyard? I'm sure what you pay for a trailer-load of wood is far more than he gets for biomass. That chipper can't be cheap to run. And handling the wood as much as he does versus loading a trailer one time might actually be financially beneficial to both of you. Just a thought!

You would be surprised on what he gets for the chips for biomass.

I know I will probably get a lot of negative feedback back on this, but Chris I know you use chaps that are for safety in case the saw happens to cut your leg. I wonder how many that watch your videos have cut their leg because they were not wearing chaps. I cut my knee about 30 years ago, when the chain caught my jeans it ripped from my thigh to way below my knee, when I got my pants down the chain just cut across the top of my knee cap and didn’t get into any of my knee cap just the skin. Had to have stitches on top of knee cap, I was very lucky

I remember in one vid Jason stated that some wood he kept so long it started to rot in the yard. It looks like he is busting out the elbow grease because there is alot less wood around now! @InTheWoodyard4 күн бұрын
If you are a Stihl person...a 462 or a 500 would be nice but a 661 is bigger and better for big stuff.
@iffykidmn81704 күн бұрын
261 is one of my favorite 50cc saws for limbing and cutting smaller wood 10" dia, depends on your definition of larger trees as Chris recommended below all great choices really hard to beat a 70cc saw for an all-around saw. I seldom grab a 90cc saw unless bucking a steady supply of wood 20-24" and up as the added weight is not worth it for me. Remember the correct number of saws is more and more choices find a new BF and try their saws first if possible.
