About this game:
The remnants of human civilization are threatened by gigantic creatures breeding beneath the earth. You must control powerful mechs from the future to hold off this alien threat. Three things that helped me a ton when I started playing this game, maybe they'll help you too: 1. The closer your units are to the absolute center of the map the better, as you can utilize the maximum movement for each unit. It generally works for me to just deploy my units as close to the middle as I can. 2. Unless a pilot or effect allows you to, your units can't move through geography or other units, which can restrict their movement. Be aware of this when a unit appears to be able to move nowhere, as something is probably blocking their path, possibly one of your own units. 3. Most of the time, if an enemy attacks your mech directly, it means they aren't a threat to buildings or your objectives. Watch out for these attacks, because you can solve them by just moving out of the way without investing any more of your actions on that enemy. Make sure you know exactly what attacks are going to threaten your objectives or buildings directly, and don't worry too much about the others. Sorry for the wordy comment, just trynna help out my local egg.

So you have to learn (specially on harder missions) to look closely on the map before accepting the mission as is. You see the first wave as well as the layout and you should never take a mission like that with close to starter gear (unless your comp is suited).

You needn't worry about 3 enemies spawning and going out of your way to block it down to 2, 3 is not that big a deal.

Biggest problem is that the enemies he blocks don't go anywhere, meaning if he blocks 2 of 3 spawns this turn, he has to deal with five spawns on the next one - 3 new and 2 previously blocked. Actually killing stuff is way more productive.

Challenge mission Victory in 4 turns If you're gonna consign yourself to losing a solar panel the correct order of moves is: 1. Artillery in the middle of the 3 2. Tank shot crab back into place 3. Punch crab to death Saves your punch mech 1 HP and kills a unit (while still blocking a spawn)

Could have avoided all damage in the first turn. 1. Tank shot Alpha Hornet in front of Regular Firefly 2. Punch Alpha Firefly between AH and RF -> AF kills AH and RF damages AF 3. Artillery hits crab on dune -> Smoke -> no attack The order of enemies acting is very important.

Blocking enemy spawns is not something NL should do, tbh. It screws him over so hard, because it's the only thing he's focused on and doesn't think about enemy pacing. If he'd just focus on killing stuff that's on the field, it would go so much better for him.

I just bought this game yesterday, and I thought that I would do better than NL's first few videos. Nope. I make the same mistakes that he does. Feels bad. At least I've won once, and came very close three other times. Oh well.

Okay, a few things. First the good news. You are improving. Especially on the first few maps here, you were doing better. Later on, that progress reversed itself a bit. I'd urge you, before doing anything else, familiarize yourself with the game's feedback. It tells you EVERYTHING you need to know. Hover the cursor over your mech, and it tells you what qualities it has and what they mean. Read them all. Hover it over units on the map, and it shows you the arcs of attacks, the targets of attacks, the damage of attacks, and how things are going to move as a consequence of attacks. It's really well done. After that, work on assembling that wealth of information into causal chains. You were doing this earlier on. If you move this here, it fires there, which damages this...etc etc. Work out all the permutations. It takes time. Give yourself that time. What you still need to work on, I think, is learning to then take that causal chain and extend it out beyond the turn you're on. If you move most of your mechs way over here, will they be in position next turn to protect buildings? If you focus more on blocking enemies now than getting objectives, can you upgrade your mechs enough to keep up with escalating difficulty? Again, it takes time. More than just time though, it requires a certain methodical mindset. Trying to fly by the seat of pants through it may work from time to time, but mostly it will just lead to a death spiral. Keep at it!

This game has way more in common with chess than a classic RTS or TBS (real time strategy/turn based strategy). And yes, I do realize chess is a strategy game too :) I'd personally recommend the game as it is very addictive and can be played in short bits Its got nice art and is also hugely replayable. However, I should also advise that it can be very frustrating at times.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure, like everyone else it's people coming and going. They're just doing it at roughly the same rate nowadays. Those 700k certainly aren't watching, so the sub numbers aren't particularly relevant either way.

Hey Malfish, when you say "most KZbinrs", do you mean other Let's Players or everyone? I'm not so sure about inconsistent audiences, though. There are plenty of channels with very loyal watchers. LP channels, by nature, tend to have loyal audiences, especially if the games all fall into similar genres.

Christian Lund not really, a lot of gaming channels with 5 million subs might only get 200,000 viewers a vid. The most views per sub are probably very quality over quantity with FAN bases, like days and Phil.

When I replied before I tried to go looking for gamers with millions of subs but didn't really know where to look. I know about Pewdiepie, Markiplier, and Jacksepticeye, but they have become hybrid channels. I could only compare with quill18, who has 495k subscribers (compared to NL's 777k), and 5.2M views for the past 30 days (compared with NL at 9.9M for the same period). So it seems that NL does indeed have a loyal viewer base, as would anyone else who puts up plenty of fresh (and importantly consistent) content. If we look outside LP channels, I'd say that anyone who regularly (and somewhat frequently, depending on the type of content) posts videos has a loyal audience. E.g. ASMR, daily vlogs, mukbang/storytime, commentary. Can you recommend any gamers with subs in the millions that I can look at? They don't necessarily have to be good. ;)
